I just wanted to know who was going and to which game? I'm going to the Sat afternoon game. So if anyone wanted to meet up I'm down.

 

Does anyone know the pitching matchups yet?

With those ticket sales, it'll almost guarantee MLB will consider Montreal in the future for a team, providing they get a new stadium on the way, considering the league will not continue to support the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland A's stadium issues, especially Tampa Bay's.

 

BTW, another case for a team in Montreal.. Tampa Bays ranked in Forbes as the MLB's least valuable team. And if that's not bad enough, unlike the Jays, the Rays home opener isn't even sold out!

Keri was on 690 yesterday and said no chance Tampa moves to Montreal. Main reason was with revenue sharing Rays are making money. Keri said when the Expos were here they were 130th in 30 team league in revenue. It was that much of a difference

Unless Bud Selig decides Tropicana Field is no longer suitable for baseball.. with grass coming to the Rogers Centre once the Argos move out, it's a possibility.

And the 29 other owners are going to cut off Tampa Bay if they don't see improvement in that team's attendance or progress in a new stadium.

Me and Spanky are going - flying Porter down on Friday. Also, I think Gibbers is making the drive out to Montreal.

I think the best situation would be If the Rays moved to the Marlins new stadium, and have the Marlins relocated to another city.

Proposal...

 

There are more people going to the Saturday game. There are very few bars or restaurants nearby the place, and we have no idea what the indoor setup will be like

 

We should make note of a convenient location when we are at the Friday game, post here to decide what would work best. Thinking maybe a bar with seats inside the stadium, preferably one with a view of the field. Then people interested could plan to meet there before the Saturday game, maybe at noon time?

 

Also open to other suggestions

I don't think we ever had a bar with a view, trying to think back to the old expos days. Not even sure we had a bar in there lol, we had kiosks selling alcohol I think. But ya, go to the friday game and let us know the setup.

I'm sure they have things set up differently now anyway

 

Looks like they're putting quite a bit of work in to the place for this weekend.

Alex Anthopoulos then leaves the Blue Jays for a job as GM and VP of operations for the Montreal Marlins. Let the rebuild begin in earnest! :)
