Until this spring I hoped that he would regress/progress/whatever to replacement level. But I haven't seen a shred of anything all spring to suggest to me he will. He looks awful.

Is Drew/Boras still on the long-term deal bandwagon or is there interest in a 1 year deal? Reyes will likely be back at some point during the season (FFS that sounds awful), so would Drew be okay with moving to 2B?

Should be. Boras, backed by MLB rules, got his agent a year where he can't be offered the qualifying offer. Now it's a question of does Boras accept a 1 year contract, and will the Jays pony up some cash

The org HAS to get over the Boras thing. And accept that FA acquisitions can help the team without wrecking the farm in general.

 

As for 2B, Boras came right out and said he would sign with the Jays AND play 2B, bit IF they made it a "long term commitment". So there's a barrier there cause right now a 1-2 year deal looks best.

They really have no choice but to sign Drew IMO. It would be really irresponsible if they roll with Izturis/Goins especially considering Lawrie is also an injury risk. I really don't understand it. You spend a bunch of money then all of a sudden a few million to significantly improve the team becomes not available either because of Rogers or AA's context neutral assessment of players?
