It's really interesting. I think Sierra and Edwin work out together and they both still seem to be behind pitchers. Bautista and Melky also work together and they seem to be ahead of pitchers.

I was waiting for this comment.... Several things

 

1) Reyes was the one who made the slick play happen, not Goins. All Goins did was receive the ball and throw it to 1B...like every 2B should be able to do. There's literally nothing about that play which could make someone say "Wow! Goins is a stud".

 

2) The doubt is in his bat, not his defense

 

1) Reyes started yes, but not many players can receive and finish that throw in time.

Kawasaki or Izzy can not make that throw against the grain with that type of velocity,thus the runner would have been safe. Extended innings is what AA is trying to prevent this year in exchange for a bit of offense. I agree.
