Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Ken_Rosenthal No truth to rumor that Sogard has switched agents from Octagon to Scott Boras, and that Boras is citing “irregularities” in #FaceOfMLB vote.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Resume the story for me please Sogard bunted against Garza last year, who viewed it as a dick move since Garza was recovering from a lower body injury (taking advantage of his injury). So he yelled obscenities and questioned his manhood but Sogard DGAF. His wife types stuff on twitter, not directed to Garza, and Garza goes apeshit and criticizes Sogard for having his woman defend him. The Sogard family of course DGAF and Garza ends up looking like a tool and having to apologize. I have no problem with the Sogard bunt. If you are fit to play on the field, anything is game. Does it make me a bad player if I decided to bunt against a guy like Bartolo Colon? Same thing I think.

From what I understand this was part of the A's game plan and wasn't limited to Sogard making the man-child look even dumber. If anything, his beef was with the A's coaching staff much less Sogard much less Sogard's family not that the Oakland A's or anyone should let bruised egos get in the way of finding a strategic edge (an extra 2% if you will). This is no different than Maddon exploiting reverse platoons or Butterfield using positional shifts.

There were obvious time zone biases (Western zones got shafted since they had less time to vote) Also doesn't help that there was a twitter bot based in Japan http://imgur.com/ndCY5Ab Or maybe the Japanese have some wierd infatuation with Wright.

Why would the time zone matter? All zones had 24 hours to vote. Every hour in a full day.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Why would the time zone matter? All zones had 24 hours to vote. Every hour in a full day. Because of the time of day? Let's say the voting is from 8 am to 8 pm, EST time. That's 5 am to 5 pm, PST. East has more prime time to vote than the West. I probably should have said "less prime time to vote"

Which is 6 AM to 5 AM PST. Of the 24 possible hours, East misses out on the 8 am - 9 am hour and West misses out on the 5 am - 6 am window. I don't think the zones had anything to do with this. The Mets just happened to have more fans tweet their support.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Sogard takes down Jose who went social media crazy to beat Jeter and somehow loses to a Met, yes this wasnt fixed at all
Jays Verified Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I was going to post yesterday that they'll make sure Wright will win but I didn't think it needed to be said.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I knew that they would fix the final if Sogard made it, and I knew it would be some 51-49 ******** too. There's no way Jeter loses to that f***ing coconut and Sogard after that showing somehow legitimately loses to Wright.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 MLB does seem to love David Wright. They made him into "Captain America" during the WBC, he was featured everywhere during last year's All Star festivities, and now this. A conspiracy is possible.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I think it would be fun to start a huge campaign for Bautista now that he's eliminated
