From reading posts the past few days (more like weeks). I am seeing so many people bashing AA thinking they have all the answers to making this team better... Since we clearly have a forum full of potential GM's I am curious to what you all would have done with this off season. Now remember people this is not fantasy baseball.

What would I do now, or what would I have done from the beginning of the offseason? The title suggests the former but the OP suggests the latter.

I'd impress juiced with my high status and insist that he ban you.

I would have made a QO to Johnson. He had a pretty crappy year mind you but in my eyes worth the 14.1 million for the chance of having the Johnson that should have been. I would not have signed any of the FA pitchers on the Market, way over valued.

Quickly off the top of my head.

Trade for: Hanigan

QO: Josh Johnson

Sign: Kazmir

Sign: Infante ( If budget restricted Mark Ellis)

Trade for prospects (for salary relief for above moves)

J.A Happ

Casey Jansen

Sergio Santos

....although i have no idea with the budget the Jays are working with

Start of the season? Sign Drew assuming he's still available, try my damnest to drive the price to reasonable for Shark, and aside from that, be willing to move anyone for an offer that would improve the team's outlook.

I would

QO: Josh Johnson - with the hopes he turns it around

Sign: Mashiro Tanaka - High price, and risk, but increased fan base would make it a wise decision

Trade For: David Price

Rotation of Price, Dickey, Tanaka, Buehrle and Johnson/Or Young Gun

I'd go to the Board and ask for Beeston's head, I wonder if Beeston makes the decisions and AA is more truly like an assistant GM

lol and would you trade Edwin + Stroman to get Price? Because that's about what it would cost

Then OD because you have to be incredibly high to think the Jays could do all of that.

Price would walk after this season. He is going to make stupid money on the open market. Edwin and Stroman for one year of Price. No thank you.

This plus try to upgrade catcher. Im not fond of Navarro to be honest, I don't think he can handle the load, but a defense first catcher.

OK, I'll break the bank for him next year as a free agent, I think he would be available for less, they know he is leaving and want something in return

I agree Should be interesting to see how Navarro is come July/Aug. Either way it is an upgrade from JP. Hopefully Jimenez will be our full time catcher in 2015. Maybe even late this season if Navarro can't handle the catcher full time.

I would have liked Omar, 4/40 seems like a good contract too. I would not sign Jeff Baker for 2/6. I think Moises Sierra split DH with Lind would be good. Cheaper too!

I'd trade Lind for another RP, because we need more of those.

I'd then trade Lawrie for Ryan Howard, because we need a new DH after trading lind and he'd fit in with our other old players.

Finally I'd trade Stroman + Sanchez + Tirado for Samazjsvxa, because he has a cool name and why bother with a farm.

I'd then proceed to quit my job, and laugh to myself as I walk away from this train wreck.

Rogers has to loosen the purse strings, we made profits with the highest payrolls in the late 80's and early 90's, Yanks, Sos and Dodgers make money with their larger then life payroll
Posted
I'm saying dump the purse on the table and go nuts - Yankee style, it's only money, Rogers and the Jays make it everyday

The purse strings are loose. If your GM can't win on $135 million, find a new GM.

There are a lot of teams with $100 million+ payrolls who did not make the playoffs. On paper we had a kick ass team who ended up really, really under preformed due to a whole lot of issues. AA made the best team he could with what he had and it did not work out.

This is what happens when you try and build a 25 man roster and not a 40 man. Good teams have provisions for things "not working out". It was obvious to some back at the start of the Marlins trade that part of what last season was about was selling tickets. He succeeded without any thought of long term. Well ticket sales are doing okay right now, surprises me but hey that's a bonus for AA. He better be over .500 this year though

You asked what I'd do as GM? Man, you really are quite a dipshit.

You should probably dump JPA after undo-ing everything following the Wells trade

I'd need someone to park my car in Vegas and yes I'd still have the team in Vegas...just because I'd be there more than in Toronto.

Trout over Jenkins and Sale over McGuire?

Draft decisions never really bother me unless it's a decision being made against the opinions of the majority of your cross-checkers/staff (Romero over Tulo, Loux over Harvey for Towers)
