theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 If you care so much of the future, why do you dwell so much on the past? You must've only read that one post because I have no idea what you're talking about. Half of my posts on here and about cleaning house for the future or giving young players a chance over over-paid vets
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 theblujay, thoughts? I think you know
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Correct answer is Ryan Goins is super sticky.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm just bitter because I'm fed up with this org. The first draft I ever followed all the way through from pre-draft to signing day was the Synder, Sanchez draft. I can clearly remember Syndergaard being picked and he instantly became one of my favorite prospects. Now that's all been taken away, and Sanchez could easily be on the move soon. How sad is it that one of the greatest moments of my time being a die-hard Jays fan is Arencibia's debut? How sad is it that all I want is to see meaningful games in July and last year I had Red Sox fan friends complaining about the upcoming season in April. I don't want to spend another year watching the team miss the playoffs with such a high payroll and a weak farm. I'm tired of not selling high and buying low on assets. You want to blow up the team or buy struggling assets hoping they'll turn it around when we need them to, yet all you want is to see meaningful games in July? You're complaining about friends who had a talented but unlucky team that put it together, yet don't acknowledge the same situation here? I think you're confused about what you want.

I just want to see the whole org move in a positive direction. The thing about the Sox: basically I'm just bitter that they had no interest in their team when they appeared to be in a non contending year, and then you know what happened.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Its a joke about clinging tightly to moves of the past. I wasn't even alive when that happened.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 No, you wan't the Jays to move in your direction. You know there is more then 1 way to build a team? Quick question: would you rather have the team where it is now, or where it was right before the Happ trade? We are currently doing the opposite of building sustained success.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Boom. Absolutely #roasted right there. Reported.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Oh of course! potential 4 WAR players > Actual ones, got it! If the "actual ones" don't fit the team's contention timeline then yeah.
flafson Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I bet AA doesn't do anything, he probably loves reading those articles saying he's a ninja for waiting for the right deal and then he won't pull the trigger.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Oh of course! potential 4 WAR players > Actual ones, got it! Yes actually, you do got it. Actual 4-war players that lead a team to 70 wins are insignificant. A host of potential 4-war players that will all break into the majors around the same time, and add up to a possible 90 win team, are more valuable.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Seitzer to AA: "Boss, the kid is a piece of s***. Can't hit the MLB pitching" AA to Seitzer: "Are you sure?...He's not Alcides 2012?"
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Oh of course! potential 4 WAR players > Actual ones, got it! Another option would be to trade the prospect for good young MLB ready players. Not overpaid vets
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Can Stephen Drew Stick??? The standardized sticky scale says Stephen is sorta sticky but stuck without a contract, Goins is super sticky and has been Seitzered so starts at second.
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Imagine getting to watch this team all year: OF-Gose Pillar Marisnick. IF- Lawrie Hech Goins Gomes TDA. With Stro, Synder, Alvarez, Hutch, Woj, Nicolino pitching. A whole bunch of new guys from trades. Fap
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'd s*** the bed if this were to happen, seriously!! I don't know why everyone is so in love with Ubaldo. The guy has a nice ceiling for sure, but I hate watching pitchers who are a huge risk to pile up the walks. It's more annoying than watching guys who give up 450 foot bombs.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I always thought Ubaldo Jimenez and Ricky Romero were the same guy.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Goins does not fit in with this team, lol. Team looks like s***. Gose, Pillar, Goins, Hech are bench players/can't hit MLB pitching I could fap to this rotation, but Woj is pretty unsexy. Realistically the team also includes EE, Bautista, Rasmus, Lind, Escobar, Morrow, Cecil, Delabar (or the talent they net via trade), Drabek, Hutchison, Nolin, ect. It's better than what he posted.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Drew's not that good, just that he's better than putting some random minor league guy at 2B. Personally I wish they broke the bank on Cano but it wasn't happening.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'd s*** the bed if this were to happen, seriously!! huh? Those are not really the most exciting free agents to ever exist. Certainly not enough to take this club into contention. This club still needs a real #1 pitcher.

With Stro, Synder, Alvarez, Hutch, Woj, Nicolino pitching. I would be extremely upset if I had to watch that team, especially on the offense. We would get the first overall pick though.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Rather ingenious if you ask me. Field a team of prospects so that you tank and get even better prospects. Great, he wants us to be the Marlins!
theblujay Verified Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 You're forgetting the prospects we would get by trading almost everyone of value on our team. Or we would still have them. That would be an exciting young team with a loaded farm. Sign me up
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 C'mon we know Rogers will give the direction to cut losses, blow it up and rebuild if the Jays are out of it at the break. Bye to Bautista, Dickey, Reyes, Melky, and others and not a moment too soon. If Steamer predicts 85 wins by effectively the same bunch, and 74 wins in 2013, and assuming due to injuries the 2013 total is 1 standard deviation from the mean (19% chance), then there is a 19% chance the jays will 96 games, if the Steamer projection is correct.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 ya bull f***ing s*** we are. We all know Izzy is never going away

Damn. Projections aren't "right or wrong". Are projections, you should interpret them as a hypothesis.
