Yes, the batting order won't be good. The pitching staff is being badly overrated, though, since there are unknowns on Tanaka, CC Sabathia is already in his decline phase and is difficult to trust as a #2 starter. Kuroda is a tough call due to his awful 2nd half, Nova is an enigma, and who knows what they'll get out of Nuno, Pineda and Phelps (although Phelps may end up in the pen with so much uncertainty in the rotation and bullpen forcing the Yankees to carry both Phelps and Warren as long-men.)

Hmm... sounds familiar...

True--and if David Ortiz doesn't get healthy, forget it! That lineup doesn't exactly impress.. Victorino has done little this spring and the WBC and is already a waste of money with the emergence of Jackie Bradley, Jr.

Mike Napoli's got too much of a small sample size to even consider his numbers. Will Middlebrooks is a regression candidate. Mike Carp has been a waste of a roster spot(10/1 K/BB ratio) that Lyle Overbay and/or Ryan Sweeney should get, who have badly outplayed him. Daniel Nava deserves a look, too.

Stephen Drew has had concussion symptoms and little production. Salty still strikes out too much--and it wouldn't be surprising if he loses playing time to David Ross behind the plate. Pitching has been mixed--Lester and Buchholz are better, Dempster has been good, but Doubront is inefficient, and Lackey is north of 8 on ERA. Plus, Morales is DL bound.

As for the Yanks and Red Sox--they're accurate, because of the Yanks injuries/age of their offense, and the Red Sox pitching issues and likely regression/injuries of David Ortiz handcuffing their offense(without his near 1000 OPS, the Red Sox are not a good team. Remember, the team was awful when Ortiz got hurt, even before the trade with the Dodgers.)

Seriously though, I think you guys are going to be alright this year. I expect the rotation to be the Yanks' strength, but their lineup looks quite old and/or fragile in most spots, and who in the batting order isn't into their decline phase of their careers? I don't trust that batting order to stay healthy, and almost exclusively, their best seasons have already happened. All told, just polling my gut and off the top of my head, I expect you guys to win around 88 games and miss the playoffs.

They're an unbalanced team now. In their recent glory years from '96 to the recent past, most of their stars were homegrown, supplemented with the best FA's money could buy. Now it's just all FA's with no farm to speak of.

Right now I see New York winning between 80-90 games. If they stay healthy and not too much age-related decline and Sabathia bounces back and Tanaka is pretty good, they could win 90. Some injuries and things fall apart and it's probably more towards 80.

FWIW, the last projection I've seen has them at 85 wins, which feels right to me.

I think people underestimate how much age erosion does to a roster. If it were 2006 or 2008, the current New York team (if we add in 2014 Tanaka) probably projects to like 95+ wins.

You're over-thinking this; he's just ugly.

I wasn't being too serious.. it was at least 25% a racist joke.. for the record, CC says he's the same weight.. he just toned up.. the "muscle weighs more than fat" deal

Did you post on old forum? I find it odd that you are 15 posts in and are already making "replying to yourself" accusations.

I find it odd that you're more bothered by my calling him out for obvious (and hilarious/pathetic) retardation, than his doing that s*** in the first place.

I can only conclude that he is you.

Busted.

?? I was not bothered, it may have sounded that way but it was a serious question. Did you post on the old forum or lurk here for some time before you first started posting?

Relax man, just effing with you. And lurker. Lurked to the max. Then I lurked s'more.

He really is hideous. Looks like one of the alien soldiers from the Fifth Element.

Makes me sad that the alien probably has f***ed 1000 more girls than me.

Given that he's a 6'7 290lb black man, it's not a stretch to think CC might stand for cucumber cock? Being worth tens of millions of dollars and having Derek Jeter as your wingman probably doesn't hurt either.

But yeah you're right, it must be "a lefty thing"
