Sometimes you can throw s*** against the wall and it sticks.

 

Unfortunately, that doesn't work with diarrhea.

 

Sometimes it works with players in Tampa and Oakland. Must be something different about the s*** or the walls down there...

Steamer and Oliver fWAR projections for our non-Reyes MIF options, with Steamer adjusted to 600 PA:

 

Getz = 0.7, 0.6

Goins = 0.0, 0.6

Izturis = 0.4, 0.6

Kawasaki = 0.8, 0.6

 

If Reyes goes down things are going to get ugly in a hurry.

 

 

The typical RLP 0-WinsAR 600 PA, -20 runs Vs Avg player.

It's a minor league deal, so this falls squarely in the "meh" category (unless he makes the team). He won't be a platoon partner with Goins since he's a lefty bat. At least he doesn't strike out.

The s*** they use usually has an exploitable platoon split and some defensive value. That's how you get value out of scrubs. AA seems to be attracted to the opposite. What do Getz, Izturis and Bonifacio all have in common? Even platoon splits and lousy defense.

Saki still the best option.

 

By far. Heck, Saki and a platoon partner might actually provide good production from the position but the Jays haven't brought in a single right-hander to compete for the position (unless you count the switch-hitting Izturis).

At this rate, Toronto's optimal course of action might be to trade everybody else and platoon Kawasaki with Steve f***ing Tolleson.

Getz is more likely Buffalo depth, as he has no shot of making the team, as the spot is Goins to lose. We also have Izturis as well, remember. Getz is also limited to being a player who can only play one position (2B).

 

Getz hasn't been able to stick in either Chicago or KC, so I don't expect him to stick in Toronto, either.

I forgot Diaz had ever left. He's a right-handed glove first guy so based on that alone he probably has more use than Getz.

AA has really gone off the deep end. Hole at second. Solution: Acquire 5 terrible players who can be put at second. Problem solved.
