WAR's great for measuring production in the past. You can't use an accumulation-stat to measure someone's talent.

There is no clear cut no 1 valuable pitcher in the MLB. There's a tier of Kershaw, Sale, Strasburg, Hernandez, Fernandez, Darvish, and Harvey.

 

It's also worthwhile to note that all of these pitchers were drafted and developed by their current major league team with the exception of felix who was an undrafted signing by the mariners and obviously darvish although he has also only been in one major league organization.

I don't often agree with JFaS' player valuations and rankings, and I would say that Kershaw is best because there's something to be said about durability and workload. Fernandez and co. don't have that track record.
