jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Tonight is the night. Last time Canada was in this position was in 2012 when they just needed a tie or draw to advance to the final World Cup Qualifying round and they lost 8-1 (lol). 9pm on OneSoccer. Prediction Canada 3-0. We going to bring the hurt real bad to Haiti.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Canada win 3-0. Canada advances to the final round of World Cup qualifying which we haven't done in many many years. World Cup here we come.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Sooooo in the final round of World Cup qualifying we have: -Mexico -USA - Honduras - Costa Rica - Jamaica - El Salvador - Panama - Canada Top 3 teams go automatically to the World Cup and the 4th goes on to play in another play in game for the last spot.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Listening to Ian Hume post game just has me so pumped for the Octo. Great fortune to have the Gold Cup to experiment in preparation for September. Starting it off with the US away and Honduras and El Salvador at home in September. Trudeau better have the f***ing border open by then.

Who plays who, is it a round robin, then the good s***, or knockout?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Who plays who, is it a round robin, then the good s***, or knockout? I haven't looked too much into detail yet but i know they play something like 14 games against these teams and then the top 3 in the standings go right to the World Cup. I'll look more into it this week.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Fun fact: in 5 WC qualifying games Canada has 30 goals for and 1 against lol.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Who plays who, is it a round robin, then the good s***, or knockout? Each team plays each other twice home and away. We start out against Honduras at home in Spetember, USA away in September and El Salvador at home in September. Top 3 teams make it, but the 4 goes to intercontinental playoffs. 4 teams 2 of those teams make it to the world cup as well.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 World Cup Qualifying is one month away! Been trying to decide what the best starting lineup is because honestly we have a ton of options at almost every position but decided on this... in a 3-5-2 Larin David Davies. Osorio Buchanan Eustaquio Kaye Kennedy. Vitoria Johnson Borjan. __________________________________ Larin - obvious choice, won the super league as Beskitas best player and lead the league in goals, is likely heading to the EPL. David - another obvious choice, best player on a champion team in a top 5 European league. One of the best young strikers in Europe Davies - one of the very best players in the world Orsorio - high level MLS player Buchanen - Get use to this name folks, he's in the MLS now but he's going to Europe and is going to do big things. Best player in the Gold cup? Eustaquio - Another star in the making, plays for a mid tier Portuguese team but is linked to CL clubs like Porto. Him and Buchanen were unstoppable for Canada. Kaye - MLS All star, top player for the best team in MLS. Kennedy - Plays in the German League, young kid but has played well for Canada Victoria - Portuguese league, old as s***, but is a good vetrenzz presents for Canada backline Johnson - Young promising MLS player, has played amazing for Canada and i think he deserves the shot Borjan - Champions League goalie
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 There's rumors circling that Chelsea (Champion League winners) have submitted an aggressive offer to land Tajon Buchanan. Not really sure how i feel about this; i'm a huge huge Buchanan fan (see above post) but maybe a mid tier team in a top 5 league would be a more logical next step. I doubt he would play much at Chelsea.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) ...it sounds like the expectation would be that Chelsea would loan Tajon Buchanan out which makes more sense. Edited August 22, 2021 by jays4life19
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 ...it sounds like the expectation would be that Chelsea would loan Tajon Buchanan out which makes more sense. just read 9.5 mil Euro. That's a big number. 11 mil US is one of the biggest MLS transfers ever. It's nothing for Chelsea. They can throw that money at kids with potential and if they never work out they have no problem selling them for half what they paid. I'd expect a loan deal. My team in the championship could use a player like Tajon on loan! A loan to the Championship would be pretty decent. It's such a competitive league. Every game is a battle.

I absolutely love how this team is shaping up. At this point i'll be extremely disappointed if we don't qualify for the world cup, this team actually has depth and it's just not the Davies and David show anymore....the Gold Cup proved that. We will have European based players who play in their respective leagues on the bench for Canada in World Cup qualifying....crazy.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 BOB you alive? Will need a 5 page essay on your thoughts of Canada winning the world cup. Thanks.

I wonder if Laryea plays for Kennedy. The team would be loaded with pace. Hutchinson and Kaye will both play. Arfield and Osorio will both play. Hoilett will get his minutes. 3 games in 6 days with a travel for the middle game is a lot. Can't wait to get things started. September 2nd will be here before we know it.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Something is happening with Tajon right now... He's on a plane to Frankfurt. Wouldn't say that means he's signing in the Bundesliga as he could have a connecting flight but i suspect we should be hearing something soon
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Looks like he is going to the Bundesliga
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Ok I have no idea where he is signing. He IS signing somewhere though in the next 48 hours.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Club Brugge it is. I always wait until it's final. One soccer has him going to Club Brugge, but things can happen at the last minute. Club Brugge would be a decent side for Tajon. Champions league football. Freiburg would have been a good spot for him too.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Games are almost sold out. Honduras Sept 2nd. Man I wish I lived in Toronto so I could go to this game. Let's Go. An 8 to 1 victory would be a fitting score!

I'm going to go 3 to 0 Canada. Statement game!
