You know how some call ******** when people advocate for acquiring big name players for an automatic ROI because of butts in seats?

I'm proof otherwise. I would buy at least two more nosebleed tickets per season if the Jays nabbed Reddick. My girlfriend usually comes with me too. So that's four tickets. Make it happen, bean counters.

Dave Stewart on Shields:

"I think James is a throwback guy by the way he goes about his business and the innings he pitches," Stewart said. "I think the fact that Tony (La Russa) is here and that we have more baseball people – he probably sees us as a true baseball team vs. some of the other teams out here that are geared more toward analytics and those type of things.

"Sometimes, there are concessions the player will make to be here. It's the case that he likes what we're doing with our organization from our end, all we can hope is that there will be concessions enough that he can be here."

Wow.

for a moment I thought you typed that yourself. No way a GM would be THAT honest and clueless at the same time.

he wanted to discuss something with one of the home's residents

I can't think of too many discussions that you would want to preface by a 4 am break-in and the kinds I can think of you probably wouldn't describe as healthy.

Three former members of the Tullahoma High School baseball team are facing charges following an incident that occurred early Monday on Cumberland Avenue in Tullahoma, according to police

Justus Sheffield, 18, the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year who was drafted this past summer by the Cleveland Indians, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated burglary and underage drinking.

Also facing charges of aggravated criminal trespassing and underage drinking are Samuel Greyson Grow, 18, and Robert Tyler Burns, 19.

Sheffield was the grand marshal of the 2014 Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.

According to Tullahoma police, Sheffield was arrested for allegedly breaking into a residence on Cumberland Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Sheffield told Tullahoma Police Department officer Sam Campbell that he went to the residence to “discuss some issues with Brody Thomasson” who lives at the address.

According to the report, Jeremy Thurman, who also lives at the address, told police that he was asleep when he was awakened by someone knocking on his door. After ignoring the knock for a while, Thurman stated that he heard a noise in the kitchen and looked up to see Sheffield walk through the house toward Thomasson’s bedroom.

Thurman stated he heard shouting and yelling, so he got up and called police.

Thurman told the officer that two other individuals were also standing in his kitchen. They were identified in the report as Grow, of Wilson Avenue, and Burns, of Old Tullahoma Highway. They reportedly left when they heard that police were on the way.

According to the report, Thomasson told the officer that he was asleep when Sheffield allegedly ran into his room and started “yelling and threatening to beat him up for messing around with his girlfriend.”

According to police, Sheffield had a “strong odor of an intoxicating beverage on his person and admitted to having a few drinks of alcohol.”

Sheffield told Campbell that Burns and Grow were waiting for him in a vehicle. Burns’ vehicle was found abandoned in the driveway of the Thurman residence. Sheffield then told the officer that they were probably at Grow’s residence on Wilson Avenue. They were found at that residence and both, according to police, had the smell of alcohol and admitted to drinking earlier in the night.

Sheffield was charged with aggravated burglary and violation of the drinking age law. He was released after posting $5,500 bond. He is to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Feb. 5.

Burns and Grow were charged with aggravated criminal trespassing and underage drinking. They were booked into the Coffee County Jail and were released on bond of $3,000 each. They are also to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Feb. 5.

lol at stewart, if navarro isn't a perfect fit for arizona, i don't know who is

They'd rather run with a guy who's best case scenario is Navarro's bat with worse defense.

Seriously. Advanced stats hate Navarro. He's the ideal guy for Stewart. True baseball player.
