jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 lol, a poll that was just posted on MLBTR received over 700 votes within 5 minutes of being published. And most still think Boston can afford to sign James Shields.. which they can't without a trade of Victorino, Nava or Craig, as the 40 man is full, and they can't afford to trade/DFA their top prospects or depth options in the minors just to make roster space (heck, they still haven't made the Breslow deal official because they still have not been able to clear a 40-man roster spot.) That, and they're over the tax. He's likely heading to the Giants. It makes the most sense for him.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Isn't he still owed about 20m over 4 years Yeah, 16, pass, that's an expensive Goins.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Yeah, 16, pass, that's an expensive Goins. pretty much a perfect comp
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Except that Goins can hit better and play better D. Really? I remember the scouting reports on his defense being very good at shortstop
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Except that Goins can hit better and play better D. Wow then that guy is a scrub! And we don't want no scrubs! Lol

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 So GD what moves you see us making that do not require trades! What upsets me about AA and management is the things we needed they didn't go and get for just money! Now that we have waited so long the cupboard is pretty bare and is going to cost us something from the farm! It's like we just stop short every friggin off season, frustrating! Since most left is crap, let's just keep the crap we know. And sign f***ing James Shields already! Best we can hope for! Rant done! Sorry lol
Guest Verified Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Lay off the drugs. Jays acquired a top 5 catcher, the best 3B in the league and a solid left fielder. No idea what you're whining about. Be patient.

Lol So you prefer a fat, lazy catcher who's a poor framer, an injury prone head case, and a replacement level left fielder (assuming jays weren't interested in re-signing milky) over the big upgrades that aa made? Sure a decent 2b would be nice, but with the addition of those three, 2B isn't looking like a huge black hole anymore. Also relievers aren't hard to acquire. I actually think the relievers that AA claimed off waivers could very well end up being serviceable. The rotation is fine atm. I really don't think overpaying for shields is completely necessary anyways.

He'd be SO nice at 2B, and last I saw Steamer gave him a 2.3 WAR prediction for 2015. f***. But I totally agree with what you say. Shields would be nice, but I think he's not as good as many others think he is. I think a couple of our young arms *may* come close to his production, for sure by 2016.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Plan to build a bullpen: Wait for John Hart to find good relievers (blind squirrel, nut, etc) and trade for all of them.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Shae Simmons plz Based on his recent trades, Chad Jenkins should do the trick.
