King Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Pirates signed Radhamez Liz 2Yrs/3M; MLB deal Lol
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Rays are quickly moving towards becoming a bottom of the barrel team again. Because they released a terrible catcher? Or because they made a solid trade with the Dodgers?
baseballsss Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Because they released a terrible catcher? Or because they made a solid trade with the Dodgers? If friedman made these trades they'd be sucking the rays cocks.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 If friedman made these trades they'd be sucking the rays cocks. For some really weird reason I highly doubt that
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Rays narrowing search down to three.. Dave Martinez not included, two former Jays on the list:
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Well Rays list of managerial candidates are Kevin Cash, Raul Ibanez and Don Wakumatsu. Really surprised Dave Martinez didn't make the list. Also surprised Wak is on the list as I remember him being awful for the Jays.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Those do not look good to me IMO
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Now this could be a decision that makes the Rays slide down to mediocrity. Managers don't matter much but I have a hard time believing Ibanez or Wak would make good in game decisions.

Edit: Although maybe he has learned a thing or two since then?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Ibanez a finalist?!?! LMAO it's a nice piece of strategy. anyone following Maddon will be looked at as a failure and wont last long. why waste a proper manager when you can go into the "real" list in a year when they are looking again. being "the guy" after "the God" is a certain death.... lol worst job available in baseball this year.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 BNightengale The Chicago #WhiteSox just signed 1B Adam LaRoche to a 2 year, $25 million contract. Why?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Wouldn't surprise me if the Rays are being very cheap with this. Those aren't exactly A list candidates.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Man we're going to be totally spoiled next year with 3 exciting Canadians to watch in Lawrie, Martin, and Pompey!!
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Because Moises Sierra and Dayan Viciedo suck. Viciedo might get non-tendered now. I'd say he is worth a look (primarily as a DH) if the Jays want to spend elsewhere.
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Bring on Saunders, Votto, and Taillon! George Kottaras or Mike Nickeas for back up C Jeff Francis in the pen
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Smoak >> Viciedo I do not agree, but they are both poor options.
flafson Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 LaRoch signs with White Sox. 2 year 25M. So much for Marlins emptying the bank and contending...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 A major league source indicated the Red Sox’ five-year, $95 million offer may be in the lead over Sandoval’s San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Good news for the Jays! Vernon Wells spotted at the ACC watching the Raptors destroy the Bucks. Possible signing? Oh and Joey Votto is there too..

Oh and Joey Votto is there too.. Well, V-Dub needs to find work.. his 8-year contract finally expired after this past season. No more free money from the Angels and Yankees, who were paying the remainder of that AWFUL deal.

WAY too much money for a guy who has weight issues, hasn't hit 20 HR since 2011, has peripherals moving the wrong way (career-worst .739 OPS last season), and is better suited for the NL than the AL East. Not to mention that the Red Sox aren't close to contention, and would be repeating the same mistakes trying to do a quick fix like they made in 2011.. and this time, the Dodgers aren't bailing them out, as they no longer have the payroll flexibility to take Boston's bad contracts like in 2012.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Angrioter: What are your thoughts on Jose Tabata for LF? Pillar is better hitter, defender and cheaper.
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Pillar is better hitter, defender and cheaper. Tabata older than 26
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Tabata older than 26 And he's terrible. Good thing the Pirates get out of that deal in 2016... what a waste of funds! And he is 26, BTW.
Scion Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I like Smoak. Very much okay with him as the starting 1B/DH. Could you please elaborate? I'm very interested to hear your take on him.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Redsox have a 5 year offer 95 million for Sandavol.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Redsox have a 5 year offer 95 million for Sandavol. I hope he takes it. I'd like to see that big body play defence when he's in his 30 's. Not to mention, I think 19 mil a season is a big overpayment for him. I hope the Jays don't throw those kind of numbers his way
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Not sure where to post this, so I thought here. NJH, JFAS, how accurate are defensive WAR numbers from back in the day? (on Fangraphs) I'm a big Ted Williams fan (the numbers, and him generally being a badass), but his defensive numbers are not good. That being said, he still holds a 130.4 career WAR. I got me thinking about what that number actually represents. Does anyone know how they are calculated for historical players?

Don't know anything about how reliable these numbers are though.
