Vogelbach's a beast, man, that team has assets falling out of their ass...I smell a Dynasty. All puns were intended, machismo.

Vogelbach can't catch the ball or run..........AL guy (DH)

I could see the Cubs taking a flier on Morrow for their rotation.

Morrow = Angels

No money to spend, but high ceiling low cost starter.

BA just did an article on him . He lost 40 lbs and has now gone from unplayable to barely passable at first.

There's plenty of teams that would take him on, watch, Carpenter 2.0, knowing our luck.

They are very high on a new stem cell type cure for Diabetes. I can just see this helping Morrow to reach his potential

Left-handed Billy Butler?

Yeah, to avoid Carpenter 2.0, we held onto McGowan. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

And he's still tearing the leather off the ball, with excellent ratios.

s*** looked back at BA and can't find where I read it . just read the damn thing today

I know what you are sayin with OUR luck, but remember this IS Morrow......Just not dependable at all. I'm glad we are past waiting for him to come back over and over.

Not according to this from MILB.com

The Angels signed Cuban infielder Roberto Baldoquin with a record $8 million signing bonus on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Baldoquin, 20, defected from Cuba in February and has been training in the Dominican Republic. The Angels have not yet confirmed the deal, but Baldoquin's bonus would be the largest given to an international amateur player during the current international signing period, which began on July 2.

The deal is pending a physical, according to MLB.com. The LA Times reported that Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto was in the Dominican Republic last week.

"This is a dream come true," Baldoquin told MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, who first reported the signing. "I've made a lot of sacrifices to get to this point. I'm ready for the next part of my journey."

Baldoquin is a right-handed middle infielder who can also play third and the outfield. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder played three seasons for Las Tunas in Cuba's top league and was also on Cuba's 16-and-under national team. He received the biggest bonus for a prospect signed out of Cuba by the Angels since the team gave $3 million to Kendrys Morales in 2005.

The 20-year-old will most likely begin his career in the Minors, with Class A Burlington and Class A Advanced Inland Empire as likely destinations, although it's possible Baldoquin could impress enough in Spring Training to go straight to Double-A Arkansas. The Angels may see the infielder as a potential replacement for Erick Aybar or Howie Kendrick.

As per MLB's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Angels were alloted $2.38 million in bonus pool money to spend on international amateur players this period, based on the organization's 2013 record. With an $8 million bonus, Los Angeles will have to pay a 100-percent tax on the pool overage and will not be allowed to sign an international player for more than $300,000 during the next two signing periods.

Baldoquin's bonus would be the largest bonus given during the international signing period, which began July 2, topping the $3.1 million signing bonus the Brewers handed teenage shortstop Gilbert Lara on July 10. Lara is ranked No. 4 on MLB.com's Top 30 International Prospects.

He looks pretty slick out there. The arm accuracy isn't great though but should be negated by playing 2nd base.

The #Astros announce they have acquired C Hank Conger from the #Angels for C Carlos Perez and RHP Nick Tropeano.

Jeff PassanVerified account

One of Houston's top analysts is Mike Fast, who introduced the idea of framing as a hugely valuable skill. No surprise Astros wanted Conger.

Wonder what'll happen to Stassi, Castro or Corporan after this trade?

And the Angels get a potential real backup catcher(Conger should be starting on most teams), and some pitching depth they badly need.

The Angels traded Conger to the Astros.

Tropeano is somewhat interesting, could make some spot starts for the Angels.

There was literally only 2 players last offseason I wanted AA to go and get. Sign Cano, and do whatever it takes to trade for Cueto. I wanted him to go all in on the Dominicans haha.

We would have been a very f***ing good team with those 2 players.

Posible blockbuster deal between Reds and Red Sox.

Not true. All that talk was more due to a Fox Sports article:

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/boston-red-sox-cincinnati-reds-johnny-cueto-yoenis-cespedes-trade-makes-sense-for-both-110514

And BTW, it won't happen.. Reds probably don't want to take Cespedes' baggage and salary, especially considering the Reds are tapped out financially. And I imagine the Reds want Betts regardless of what the article says.. why is the US media sending out garbage like this?

He wasn't a big name, though former MLB lefty Brad Halsey died last week due to a recreational climbing accident. I remember watching him pitch against the Jays in 2004 and he was one of the pieces the Yankees traded to Arizona for Randy Johnson. 33 is a young age - sad news to hear.

RIP

edit: was actually at that game on October 3rd, 2004 (http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=241003114). Was a big Josh Towers fan and it was the last day of the season. Also, that's the day John Cerutti died.

The Mariners are going to regret the Cano contract towards the end..

Well yeah........ to sign a guy that long term is just stupid.... how can a FO not learn from the mistakes of others... these mega long-term contracts can sink an entire organization for years

Other examples include:

Tulowitzki (Rockies), multiple players on the Yankees, Votto (Reds), Mauer (Twins), Fielder/Choo(Rangers), and others..
