So, people want you to be normal, and you refuse ... and lash out instead.

Sorry dude, I don't trash talk in Fantasy Sports at all. But when called out for something that is completely untrue because managers don't have a clue where to send trade offers and think I'm neglecting my team and make it public. I'll "lash out"

So out of curiosity, they sent you trade offers and you didn't respond so people are bitching that you were neglecting your team?

Wait, I've just perused the last few pages - is gibbers upset about people who called him a neglectful owner, or upset about me for using his DDL results as evidence that his philosophy on roster construction may not be ideal?

I have no idea where me speaking about the hypothetical Donaldson trade (Real life) and not talking about my Fantasy team came to be talking about both. If you and KK created it for kicks, keep it up.

Because your dynasty team is the best example of what a team that tries to sell every asset at peak value (27-28) actually looks like.

Hey Gibs,

I responded to your trade proposal on the PB's. Let me know.

Aside from the Longoria, what do the Rays do IRL?

I'm torn right now between your offer and another. I'm not going to push any further negotiations. I just have to look carefully at both offers and decide which one to take.

Longoria, Zobrist, Pena, Joyce, even Upton and Crawford were retained until they hit free agency. Fielding a competitive team has always come before maximizing the value of every asset by trying to trade them at their peak.

The only reason the Rays trade the older players is because they eventually hit FA and don't have the money to resign them.

There's no intent for me to move 31 yrs Stephen Drew, 27 yrs Josh Harrison, 27 yrs Wellington Castillo, 30 yrs Chad Billingsley

All of those guys suck though, except perhaps Harrison.

Are the Jays going to fire Seitzer?

Recently fired Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long is generating quite a bit of interest from other clubs, reports Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News (Twitter links). To this point, Long has already spoken with the Mets, Braves and Blue Jays, including a meeting with Mets GM Sandy Alderson. The D’Backs, Brewers and Pirates are all possibilities as well, per Feinsand.

Friedman leaving for the Dodgers. We'll get to see what he can do with all the money in the world now.

Wow! I'm curious what people will say about him though, if he starts signing pricey old free agents, etc. There have been a number of guys (quite a few who learned under Beane), who when they left to a big market club everyone assumed they would be some kind of god, and they pretty much all spent unwisely it seems. It'll be interesting to see if Friedman does, or he brings the Rays philosophy with added ability to plug holes.

This would also seem to indicate that the Rays are going to rebuild, does it not?

Posted
That's amazing news for the dodgers. Friedman is obviously one of the top GMs in the game, and he's pretty young too. The Rays just got a huge blow, the only reason they were essentially competitive with that limited payroll was with his moves.
Posted
Good news. I can't imagine the Rays getting a better GM for their situation than Friedman. Hopefully it leads to their decline.

The Dodgers may have been better off putting a yes man as President and paying Friedman bucket loads to be the GM...

Friedman will act as the General Manager, teams just like having fancier titles than that. AA's title is "Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations."

Posted
Sucks that we still have AA and Friedman was willing to listen on offers. We just missed the boat on one of the best and young GMs in the game.

Not according to this (was in Spanky's post):

Andrew Friedman became the Tampa Bay GM in 2005 -- at the age of 28.

Sources said that Friedman, in his role as president of baseball operations, will have the ability to hire a general manager.
