Erik Kratz has 2 HRs tonight.. but they're against the pathetic Twins. And he's only playing because Sal Perez left with a knee injury. Hopefully it's not a long term one.. as Jays fans know, Erik Kratz isn't exactly a catch that can play everyday, as his bat isn't close to Perez's.

"“We wanted some of that (pregame) work to see if it had a chance to play out here,” Farrell said Monday. “(We) felt like right now it was an opportunity to take advantage of the remaining three weeks left in the minor league season, hopefully to gain some confidence and some momentum when he comes back here. That’s the reason for now.”

So, basically exactly what I said. You are so deficient.

Apparently, Bradley's bat is deficient too.. 0-5 with 2Ks in Pawtucket in SWB's win tonight 2-0. Pawtucket's staff has their work cut out for them on Bradley's bat. The bat was the main reason Jackie Bradley got sent down.. no sense keeping him up with better options in Cespeds/Holt/Betts/Craig in the system who actually hit.

we have consciously optioned players back and forth to avoid DL placements. That has absolutely been by design. … All players, especially relievers, realize that when the pen has been used a lot, those with options get sent out to protect the entire group, including the player being optioned.

Worked wonders for Neil Wagner.

Fun little line at the end of this article about empty batting average.

As long as the Blue Jays are concerned, their hitters run the gamut from Edwin Encarnacion (+35 runs per season but he did not qualify for the initial sample) and Jose Bautista (+23) to Ryan Goins (-26) and Munenori Kawasaki (-21). So the next time someone tells you that Ryan Goins is an acceptable everyday second baseman at this point in his career, you can tell them his bat isn't nearly as good as that .197 batting average would indicate.

I don't know where else to post this so I'll comment on it here. What's with Lucroy getting the start at first today? Is this a common occurrence?

He's started games there this year and last. Enough for Yahoo eligibility. Nice way to save his knees and get his bat in the lineup.

I pretty much assumed this was the reason.

This is his 11th game at 1B this season; 10th game start.

Anyone else really enjoying the Royals? Of all the teams still in the picture, I'm kinda rooting for them.

They'll likely be my team for the playoffs, yes.

I probably wouldn't cheer against the Mariners or A's either.

Shark was terrible vs. the awful Mets:

3.2 IP, 7H, 7ER, 2BB, 3K, 2 HRs

Not the kind of outing the A's need.. especially with a huge series vs. the Angels this weekend.

Dayton Moore ... Executive of the Year

I think Royals will both rejoice and regret it as it means Moore will stay on longer.

Angels SP Garret Richards injured with his left leg as he was covering first on a ground ball. Doesn't look good, he lost his footing and the left leg folded very weirdly underneath him. He was legit screaming in pain.

If I had to guess, he's done for the year.

Was just about to post this. Looked ugly.

The close up of him yelling in pain was pretty telling. You dont scream like that for something that ends up being minor.

Holy crap, that was ugly.

Worst part of it, they can't even stand him up to get him on the cart, they have to put him on the backboard ... That's no good.
