Wow that is a pretty big thing to accuse someone if it is not the truth. I wonder how Hayhurst found out who her sources were? If she told him, that takes pretty big balls for him to say that as it portrays her story negatively and questions her sources. Wow Hayhurst is an idiot. Why is he an idiot? BTS Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 "The Dodgers are interested in Joaquin Benoit, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter), but the Padres would prefer not to trade him within the division." LOL hock.. Wait, what? Being concerned about trading a 37-year old reliever within the division should be a fireable offense.

I never understand it..The team trading away prospects should be more concerned because those prospects have 6 years they can kick your team in the ass for. In the case of a reliever its a waste of time to be concerned at all.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 They don't have a full time GM to fire lol. All the easier to cut ties. Why would anyone hire Omar Minaya anyway, even in an interim role?

Would be awesomely hilarious if they sold Benoit to the Jays for pennies on the dollar because they didn't want to trade within the division.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 What has happened to Yunel Escobar's defence this season? After being above average for the past few seasons he has been just awful this year. Both UZR and DRS have him being around 20 runs below average this season. Add this to his on erratic field behavior and that contract extension looks like a sunk cost. Edit: Didn't realize he was only making 5 million next year and 7 the year after. Such a team friendly deal has a hard time being too much of a loss. Still does not look like a good situation though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Yunel's always been a bit fat and slow, with that said I'd still take his defense over Reyes ANY DAY OF THE WEEK If we had watched Escobar play defence? When Yunel was with the Blue Jays he was an amazing defensive SS. All metrics would suggest that he declined tremendously to be terrible this season.

If he was a good MLB player charges would never happen... The Jameis Winston case at FSU is terrible in every which way.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 http://iphone.tsn.ca/tsnpodcasts/Hayhurst.mp3 Dirk went on TSN and talked about the article. I think he makes a very big point at the end of the conversation in which he says this doesn't happen in just minor league baseball but everywhere in life.

Such a team friendly deal has a hard time being too much of a loss. Still does not look like a good situation though. They would have been better off going year to year with him. A 10 million dollar combine salary for 2014-2015 is peanuts, more than made up for by the 4 WAR season he provided last year. Now they have committed a bit too much and need him to become at least an average player again. It's not a ton of money but given their budget it hampers them going forward if he doesn't. Not sure if there's an explanation for this. He really shouldn't be this awfurl unless he's playing through an injury.
Caper Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 While we are on topic about athletes being pigs. Rumours swirl around home (Nova Scotia) about a recent trip taken by Dion Phenouf (I'm sure that us not spelled correctly). He was on a golf trip in Cape Breton and was quite the pig I here. It ended when he called for room service... The girl working was scared to go to the room, so they sent a guy.... Where Phenouf answered the door buck as naked.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Jason Lane got DFA'd after pitching 6 innings of one run ball in his 1st major league start.

Im not sure Elisha Cuthbert would like the sound of that. Tiger Woods wasn't the only athlete who has been a terrible person, as I am sure there have been many famous athletes who have hid it just as much as Tiger once did.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 If I had Elisha Cuthbert as a wife, why would I gamble on a chick from room service I have never seen? Odds are it could have been a 50 year old Consuerta
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 So Jason Hammel now has a 9.53 ERA since coming to Oakland. Safe to say the Cubs maximized his value even though we really don't know what he personally was worth.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 He could've been special. Good on him for not sucking up the remaining $1 million, unlike a certain Cardinals pitcher...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Eric Chavez retiring. He had some really good years with Oakland from 2001-2006, with 4 5-WAR seasons in those years. He was a premium defender at the hot corner, it's a shame he never continued that performance and pretty much became a journeyman afterwards.
