How incompetent can the Mariners offense be?? Getting shut out by mediocre(excluding Chen) Orioles pitching! And this team was leading the 2nd wild card?

Cleveland Indians, another team chasing us, is tied 1-1 in the 14th.. they wasted a great Corey Kluber start.

Delmon Young with a 3-run blast. 4-0 O's. Looks like the Jays will be in the postseason mix by night's end, but still trailing the O's by 3(and so will the Yankees).

 

Meanwhile, Boston will be probably starting the auction on several of their veterans, especially after the Rays slaughter them this weekend.

I suspect we will have a "good problem",meaning,what to do with all the callups who are playing well.....at home.

Edit: Looks like he's arb-3 next year and shouldn't cost too much I wouldn't think. He only got 1M each year arb-1 and 2. Free agent after 2015.

I'd be 100% fine with a healthy Reimold, Gose, Bautista and Cabrera next year. I like that foursome's complementary abilities a LOT.

But Kawasaki, Reimold or Gose, and Thole or Kratz is an acceptable 3/4 of a bench.

 

SP depends on Hutch and Sanchez and Nolin and Morrow.

 

BP yes though depends on Delabar and Rogers a bit too

yeah, that's a solid 4 some...and Gose covers ALOT of field out there making the overall outfield D better especially with 2 corner OF's in their 30's...

I'd bet on Reimold missing more than half the season, but I dont think the odds would be very good. probably 3 to 2 odds that he misses more than 82 games..... lol

b/w Happ, Morrow, Colby, Santos - that's about $22M of payroll (about $1.75M for buyouts) that could be used elsewhere...ie. say $4m more for Melk, bit more for Cecil & Casey, bit more for Juan if that's the route AA goes...plus bunch of arb players...still plenty left over for a solid player

 

and then 2015, Buehrle's $19M comes off, Romero's $7.5M, Dickey club option, Navarro $5M...

Reimold is not a 4th OF. He's either a 5th OF and part time DH or he's a low cost (and somewhat high risk) alternative to Melky in LF with a better defender in place behind him.
