Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Trying to decide if I should get to Fenway for a couple Jays games in late July. A friend wants to go. So does my son. I think I should make it happen, say what?? It's a 7 hour drive from here which is great. Do it. It could end up being an electric series.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Anyone remember Jason Lane? Was a hitter. Was in the Blue Jays system for a little while. Well, he made his MLB début as a pitcher last night for the Padres. Lane came in to relieve Jesse Hahn. He then went to pitch 3 and a third innings of perfect ball, while recording 3 strikeouts. He's also 37 years old.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I think it's the other way around. Lane has made 11 starts this year in AAA. Seems like a good guy to have on the roster, he can still hit better then 99.5% of pitchers too. 1.151 OPS in 31PA this year in AAA.

Roster flexibility would be off the charts.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 At least the Red Sox have cooled off a bit which is nice to see. There the team that scares me the most right now. I don't know... nobody seems to be threatened by the Orioles, but I'm scared of them as much as the Sox and Yankees. People seem to forget that they haven't needed pitching in either of the past two seasons to succeed. Now they have Cruz, Crush can bounce back at any time, Hardy and Machado can bounce back at any time, their offense is a sleeping giant.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Yup...I don't know why people are not taking them that seriously. And they have Gausman. And Bundy should soon be available.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 And they have Gausman. And Bundy should soon be available. I think Bundy will be left in the minors to finish the year. He underwent TJS in late June 2013 after being originally shut down in March 2013. He's pitched around 100 total innings as a pro (2012). I do agree the O's shouldn't be discounted, but the same applies to the whole division. Lots of divisional games left to be played.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Ya, I forgot about that. They f***ed around with him for so long before actually sending him for it. I think he'll be a September call-up. Depends on how he does once he comes back.

You get passed Crush, Cruz, Jones there nothing at the bottom of the order really causes me to worry especially with Wieters out. The Rotation that they are throwing out there is no better then ours and that is saying something. I think that Baltimore is going to 3-4 in the division right around the .500 mark maybe a few games above. I also don't think they will be make any earth shattering moves come the deadline. If they want shark they will have to give up 2 big pitching prospects and that would be a terrible move for them as in the next couple years they are going to need guys like Gausman and Bundy.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Did not want to make a new thread on this but if you have been back to the old MLB boards you would have noticed how f***ed up they are now. The new layout sucks lol. Makes me appreciate this place more and more every day lol.

I know, i been trying to read the forums of some of the other teams, any team that uses the MLB system is now unreadable.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I was a regular on the Jays mlb board since 2003. Thousands of posts. Good memories. Then I was banned, and I deserved it.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 2003??? That's when I started posting there in Feb 2003, what was your handle? Let's see if you can remember This was probably in 2010 or earlier, but it was in a series against the Angels. We were destroying them, and just for fun, a bunch of us forumites decided to head over to the Angels board and make fun of them. Joke after joke, it was pretty fun trolling the Angels and getting them mad. And me, foolishly, said this line, "Hey guys, how is Nick Adenhart pitching?" At the time, I thought I was being a smartass but booooy was that a terrible joke. He died a year prior too I think! Nonetheless, I got banned. Funny, I started off as a legit poster, then grew to hate the negative nancies on that board and slowly went to the dark side of a sneaky troll. Now I DGAF. edit: here I'am! http://www.forums.mlb.com/discussions/Toronto_Blue_Jays/_/_/ml-bluejays/25018.41

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Has it really been that long since Nick Adenhart died. Wow r.i.p
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 f***, that MLB layout is atrocious. I know eh..... I just like going to some of the other teams boards and cruising and now it is just disturbing. However i have not even cared to venture onto the old board.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Quietly, Seattle has surged back into the race after beating Atlanta this afternoon thanks to Iwakuma. They've won 5 in a row, and are now tied with the sinking Angels, who are 3-7 in their last 10. As a result, both the Yankees and Orioles are out of the wild card race, pending tonight's games.

Tied in run-differential with Anaheim too at +25, third-best in AL. We're going to really need Texas and Seattle to keep Anaheim from running away with a WC spot.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 lol I felt so bad I was trying to delete my account, but there was no option. Fortunately the admin took quick care of me Not sure why you used Ty Taunbenheim as an example. The guy was renowned more for his staph infection spread in the clubhouse than his pitching! Man that brings back the memories of John Hattig, Francisco Rosario, Vinnie Chulk and Scott Schoenweis (no I will not make fun of his wife)

BTW, what about Davis Romero? We never saw him again after that same season Ty Taubenheim made his debut. Worse, Ty's 2nd start was my very first Jays game (no joke).
