S33n Verified Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 This week will be interesting, I'd be happy if we went 3-3. I'm feeling a little more confident now that we know Stroman is here to stay. Hopefully he can keep up the good work from his last start.

Caper Verified Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 No, Caper says they're not allowed back on the bandwagon. They committed fan treason. Well, to be fair.... I haven't counted the votes.

And the David Price/Ben Zobrist/Matt Joyce and possibly Evan Longoria sweepstakes will begin soon, once ownership orders an Expos-style fire sale in the next few weeks with no new stadium on the horizon and a bleak future looming on the field and with the stadium issue. Expect those players to be playing on contending clubs like the Dodgers, Giants, Brewers, Braves, Tigers, Yankees, Orioles and even the Blue Jays within 4-8 weeks(sorry, not convinced on the Red Sox at the moment)

This is hilarious. If the Jays fall apart... the only good thing about it will be coming on here and receiving the reverse flaming.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Forgot to also mention other chips, like Yunel Escobar and Grant Balfour, have zero value right now. And would anyone take Loney's backloaded deal?

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 TB is toast. Looks like the East is down to 4 teams. Way too early to make that proclamation. They can still go on a run with the best of them. They're digging a huge hole though. Offense is pathetic.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 KC is tearing up Cards. Looks like if we get past Tigers, we might steamroll again.

Offense is pathetic. They are 12 games under .500 and have a s*** offense. They would need to go on a huge run just to get to .500 by the ASG. I doubt they come back from this.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 TB is toast. Looks like the East is down to 4 teams. Not exactly. I mean yeah its possible that they're out of the playoffs (to a certain extent; we're talking about the f***ing Rays, nobody forgot 2011), but even if they're 30 games out, the Rays are the kind of team that if you end up facing them while in a pennant race and have a desperate need for wins, they'll probably do something s***** like sweep you in a 4-game series, before going back to losing against other teams.

Oh I agree that they are no push over. They we're expect edit o win the division for good reason, I just don't think they will be able to be a serious threat for the division At this point.
admin Site Manager Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Man Tanaka is a beast. 11 quality starts in a row, hasn't given up more than three runs in a game. Dickey has given up five or more in four of his 12 starts.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 We're finally beating the rays for the first time in 5 years 60 games into the season! All it took was triple their payroll and selling our top prospects, but we did it!

When your biggest name is suffering a huge power outage (Longoria), your rookie RF (Myers) is struggling, the SS Escobar is regressing badly, and neither catcher hits, and the bullpen gets roasted frequently, you won't contend in any division.

And all it takes is one week for all of that to turn around. It's way too early in the season for them to be out of it. On the topic of the Rays though... This is before I started following baseball, but ouch: http://i.gyazo.com/07eabc654e3c2fe986039ba3796b1f4b.png Can't remember ever seeing a team lose a division by 48 games. I'm sure it must have happened, but I've never seen it.

I'm sure it must have happened, but I've never seen it. The D-Rays were BAD for a LONG TIME. So were the Orioles. That's what has made the recent stretch so painful for Jays fans. The two doormats even we got to make fun of passed us by.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Jays farm > Rays farm But continue... 4 straight 90 win seasons, 3 post season births, their payroll doesnt come close to ours. I really dont have to continue
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 This BP write up makes me happy actually: 13. Toronto Blue Jays Farm System Ranking in 2013: 13 2014 Top Ten Prospects: Link State of the System: Despite a recent penchant for using prospects as currency to acquire major-league talent, the Jays system remains thick with high-ceiling players on both sides of the ball. Top Prospect: Marcus Stroman (27) Breakout Candidates for 2014: Miguel Castro and Mitch Nay Prospects on the BP 101: 3 Must-See Affiliate: Low-A Lansing Prospects to See There: Alberto Tirado, DJ Davis, Chase DeJong, Jairo Labourt, Mitch Nay, Matt Dean, Rowdy Telez Farm System Trajectory for 2015: Up. The Jays have some of the best young prospect depth in baseball, and as the short-season talent start to develop at the full-season level, the system as a whole should jump into the top 10, where they are likely to stay for a very long time.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 4 straight 90 win seasons, 3 post season births, their payroll doesnt come close to ours. I really dont have to continue That's the thing, of course. You really can't trash another team that's been that successful after you've finally gotten ahead of them for all of a third of a season. (But I probably will a bit anyway because I'm enjoying it LOL)
