In the 2013 one, someone was vouching for Yadier as the #1 overall pick. "1 player to make 5 others better" yeah uh no

Strasburg seems to get underrated almost as much as Machado gets overrated. He has a 2.60 xFIP this year with obscene PD stats. He's really really good. Yet because he's not Sandy Koufax, people see him as a bust.

ESPN is doing their stupid Franchise Player Draft today (you get the player for 10 future seasons), and Machado was selected 4th overall (!!) by Tim Kurkjian.

Like, what makes you pick him that high!?! I don't get it. He shouldn't even be in the conversation with Puig, Stanton, McCutchen et al.

Thank you for NOT making a thread for this, BTW :)

What a unmitigated disaster the Royals organization is in player development:

http://www.kansascity.com/2014/05/31/5059231/the-royals-inability-to-develop.html

Meanwhile, Kevin Seitzer is leading the Jays into 1st place.

It’s hard not to wonder how much fault lies in the terrible decision to fire hitting coach Kevin Seitzer after the 2012 season. He was fired because the Royals didn’t hit for enough power, which sounds like the setup to one of Aesop’s Fables given what’s happened since: The Royals have plowed through hitting coaches like Spinal Tap drummers. Dale Sveum was hired on Thursday to replace Pedro Grifol, who last July replaced George Brett, who replaced Jack Maloof and Andre David last May.

The Royals had five different hitting coaches in less than a year and haven’t hit for power with any of them — they are dead last in the majors in home runs since the start of last season. Meanwhile, the Toronto Blue Jays, who hired Seitzer to be their hitting coach this offseason, lead the majors in home runs and runs scored, and lead the AL East.

Why does Dayton Moore still have a GM job. He undermines himself by making good decisions followed up by several bad decisions.

GMDM not a smart General manager. They were not going to compete last year with Shields IMO and Myers is a guy you can build a team around. Just poor decision making.

I am not saying it is all Seitzer but it is refreshing to see us in the bottom part in the strikeouts compared to the last few years where we have always been up top. We are a top 10 team when it comes to Walks and i have not seen that in years.

It is very refreshing to see this team do more than try and hit bombs. Even though Edwin is doing that with regularity lol.

Seitzer gives you a game plan, consistency which might result in better average/OBP. They fired him and they dropped on those numbers and we gained on those numbers.

We also have a better lineup than KC but Seitzer may well be helping things.

Can't believe the mess with the Royals in the meantime. this was the "it" club 1-2 years ago that was poised to make a big move.

Dr. Wilk (from the Andrews Clinic) was on PTS. Andrews Clinic has created an app for young kids (and their parents) to monitor over pitching. They could probably never do another surgery again and make enough money as consultants to pitchers.

Ole Miss Athletic Director Ross Bjork continues to be the coolest AD out there. He emailed this to all Alumni and then posted it on Twitter.

Marlins up 3-0 on Rays

Indians up 2-0 on Sox

Mariners up 1-0 on Yanks with Felix pitching

Early, but a good start to the night.

And BTW, the new MLB.com Gameday sucks. Why did they change it???

LOL.. what team would be stupid enough to pinch hit for their catcher in the 5th inning.. it just happened in Tampa. Desperate for offense, Joe Maddon just PH Jerry Sands for Ali Solis, which will mean Jose Molina will be coming in.

Didn't this organization used to be one of the better-loved organizations?
