NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Johnny Cueto just pitched one of the best games you'll ever see. Shutout three-hitter with twelve strikeouts, no walks.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Athletics claim RHP Marcus Walden off waivers from Toronto and option him to Triple-A Sacramento.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 If any of y'all regret letting him go, say so now
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Athletics claim RHP Marcus Walden off waivers from Toronto and option him to Triple-A Sacramento. Oh no, Marcus Walden should have been given a longer opportunity here in Toronto. In two years we'll here how the Jays made a mistake cutting him when he's in Oakland's rotation!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Johnny Cueto just pitched one of the best games you'll ever see. Shutout three-hitter with twelve strikeouts, no walks. I've seen better.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 The Rays' struggles continue. O's carving them up today. Love it. Wil Myers is tanking early on. 0 dingers and 3 more K's today.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Enjoy it while it lasts. Is the starting pitching good/deep enough? I have no doubt that they'll win 85+ games but they're definitely not a lock for the playoffs any longer.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Rays can't exactly contend when 3 starters are on the DL for long periods of time (Cobb, Moore, Hellickson) and they're sending out garbage like Cesar Ramos (who is a bullpen arm) and Erik Bedard (hasn't been good since previous injuries). And the offense is horrid (14th in AVG, 12th in runs, 12th in hits). Longoria, Joyce and Zobrist are the only ones hitting. Without a supporting cast, forget it! And Wil Myers is hitting like he needs to get more seasoning in AAA. At this point, even the Jays are looking more attractive than the Rays or even the Red Sox.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Oh no, Marcus Walden should have been given a longer opportunity here in Toronto. In two years we'll here how the Jays made a mistake cutting him when he's in Oakland's rotation! Holly f*** are you ever obtuse. Walden didn't deserve an opportunity but he also shouldn't have been outright lost over a misunderstanding of the rules. If the Jays has assigned their minor leaguers when they were supposed to, they never would have had to add him to the 40 man roster in the first place. But don't use this as evidence of poor roster management or anything. I'm sure all the other teams in baseball don't know the rules either.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 lol. Not that it really matters, but incompetence just cost the FO a player. Lol at BTS for laughing at the Jays for not signing Josh Johnson and declaring Yan Gomes a scrub who could not play baseball.... Lol.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Karns is not MLB ready, as he is struggling in AAA. Alex Colome is currently under a 50-game suspension and won't be an option until about June.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Exactly. Ask the Yankees about Eduardo Nunez, who they lost to the Twins. And regarding Marcus Walden, he's basically AAA fodder for the RiverCats.. his stuff isn't anything special, and was very hittable in AA and AAA. We have better options.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Tommy Hunter shuts the door on the reeling Tampa Bay Rays When does the epic Rays collapse stop? 20 games? 30 games? Tragic!
Caper Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 This post is bad Lol at King attempting to appease his master lol.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 It's mildly frightening that he keeps posing about me even though he's been IL'd for weeks and knows it. I know where you sleep.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 his stuff isn't anything special, and was very hittable in AA and AAA. We have better options. Everyone realizes that. It's still dumb to lose a player, even an org filler, for nothing just because the team didn't understand the rules.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 When somebody in the Rays org. actually teaches them to hit and they get an actual bench. You think the Jays bench is bad, the Rays are even worse! Forsythe isn't hitting (.172), neither catcher can hit, Dejesus can't hit (.156), heck, even Kawasaki and Diaz have better numbers than Sean Rodriguez (.182). They can't expect to just get on via BBs.. they need to hit! And Wil Myers needs to wake up.
berenjenareturns Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Bow Down to Tanaka....I said Bow down. Masahiro Tanaka today: 8 IP, 2 hits, 1 BB, 10 K. 0 ER. Has pitched against Blue Jays, Orioles, Red Sox, Cubs. Total numbers this year so far: 22.0 IP, 15 hits, 28 K's, 2 BB, 2.05 ERA. 0.77 WHIP.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You're kind of knit picking though. How so? A. The team didn't assign it's Minor Leaguers in time for them to be available to them at the start of the season. B. The team announces that they are DFAing Jeffres and calling up Jenkins. The move gets voided because of A. C. The team can't call up any of the pitcher on the 40 man so they are forced to add Walden to the 40 man just to cover for the Jeffres DFA. D. Walden, the player who they were forced to add to the 40 man gets claimed by another team. So what part of this show competence exactly? What part of this is nit-picking?

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Now let's see if his teammate Michael Pineda follows suit in the 2nd game tonight. Although against the Cubs, that shouldn't be too hard.
admin Site Manager Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 I don't care how good tanaka is and how much I'd love him here, I can't fault the FO for not getting him. Seven years is ridiculous, Yanks could care less though though.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Didn't G already give you warnings about this? . No G gave me warnings for using sexual language in the way I describe your board love for BTS.... Which was an appropriate warning... As you are 12..... Not for pointing out the board love itself.

He got plenty of weak contact, looked like an ace out there. Also this is great: http://wapc.mlb.com/cutfour/2014/04/15/72171114/photo-seinfeld-bobbleheads-keith-hernandez-brooklyn-cyclones

They could really benefit from spreading the money around and not being so top heavy.

You just described pretty much every major league team out there.
