Should not and will be are two different things. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to your 2014 0 WAR starting 2B platoon.

It's better than a -3 WAR one like we had last year

But still should have aimed higher, especially when the insane price of pitching became obvious

Sure, but we replaced one of the major culprits in Izzy with himself and misguided hope.

Hey I'm just happy the farm is not going to be traded for a bunch of middle of the road veterans

Next, trade Bautista for young emerging top talent

Gausman hasn't had a full season in AAA yet, and needs more seasoning as a starter.

Carlos Rodon has not thrown a single pitch as a professional and he's better than all our pitchers.

Kevin Gausman may have great stuff--but his AAA/MLB numbers as a starter last season weren't much to write about. He's going to have to earn a spot over guys like Brian Matusz, TJ MacFarland and Steve Johnson for the 5th spot.

He may have great stuff--but he needs to command it better in starting duties (9.6 H/9IP), or he's going to end up as a reliever long term, like he was in the 2nd half of the season.

Is it a wonder why the O's are looking for an upgrade, such as AJ Burnett?

I keep trying to tell myself that there's just no way IzGoins can be as bad as what we had at 2B last year. There's just no way Izturis repeats the season he just had, so by default we'll be better at 2B. We just wanted better. Same can be said about catcher. I'd rather hold on to our farm than make a dumb move at this point. Whatever guys...

If "looking at in-house options" means considering Stroman and Hutchison as rotation options, then I don't see the problem .

+1 Even start the year with a rotation of Dickey, MB, Morrow, Happ and Hutchison. When someone gets injured/falters then Stroman, Drabek, Jenkins get a shot. There's plenty of options to eat innings, just don't let guys struggle for prolonged period at the major league level.

Goins at 2B is a big improvement over the garbage of Bonizturis we had last year, even if Goins doesn't hit that much. Remember, we used to give Johnny Mac a lot of ABs as well at one time. And Kratz/Thole/Navarro won't strike out 148 and bat less than their weight like JPA did.

Too many question marks there and not enough quality. It needs to be Dickey, Morrow, FA/Trade, MB, Hutchinson or Stroman to start the year if we want a serious shot at the playoffs. Happ/Rogers are fine as injury fillers only

I don't see why Stroman needs AAA time, many pitchers skip AAA and he is a college kid that was expected to be close to ready when drafted. If anyone I think Hutchinson needs AAA time to prove himself ready to come back, he shouldn't be doing that at the MLB level on a competing team.

Wacha - 85 IP AAA

Strasburg - 55 IP AA/AAA

Leake - 0 IP

I don't know why everyone is so upset... Didn't you hear uncle Pauly telling us that if we don't win next year, we will the year after? What's the problem? lol

Seriously though, I don't believe this report although I kinda want it to be true... The FO is in desperation mode whether they want to admit it or not and Alex is going to do something stupid sooner or later since his puppet master doesn't want to go out like this.

Strasburg had better stuff than Gausman (and managed to blow out his elbow). And the jury's still out on Wacha, as Boston figured him out in Game 6 of the World Series, especially when the rest of the league catches up to him. Outside of the Red Sox, most teams have only seen him once. And of course, there's the 30.2 IP pitched in the postseason on top of his regular workload. How he can adjust after throwing 180 IP between AAA/MLB will be something to watch in 2014.

Leake is difficult to call--and he DID pitch in AAA in 2011.

Unless you're the Red Sox or Rays, most of the AL East isn't exactly swimming in pitching depth either. Orioles, Yanks and us all have questions in our rotation

Oh FFS if you're going to try a comeback at least pretend not to be the idiot also know as raysjays/digiblader/high85

Trade him to the Cardinals board for...

That guy who wanted to "teach us" something. On the other hand, MohYou would probably be their best poster by far, so we would be better off retaining his rights.

^ thanks all

I'm Much friendlier then that deamon seed Howard rourk

Howard is a great connoisseur of the baseball game but he's a troll at the same time.

I love Gausman but I'd be surprised if he out-WARs Dickey in 150 IP.

That's right AA, stop investing just as your flurry of woefully inefficient moves have taken your team to the point where investing heavily in the short team actually makes A TON of f***ing sense.

2 or 3 wins could be the difference between playoffs and layoffs, millions of dollars in profit... but go ahead, just stand pat.

What the f*** [did] you want to do? There [were] no options.

Sign Mark Ellis (or any small projected 2B upgrade, Brian Roberts would probably have liked a bit more than $2MM)

Sign better bench pieces (specifically, make it so that Moises Sierra isn't the team's best RH bat off the bench)

Trade Aaron Sanchez for a sizable rotation upgrade

Harvey 6,1 WAR (178 IP)

Fernandez 4,2 WAR (172 IP)

Miller 2,1 WAR (173 IP)

Cole 2,3 WAR (117 IP)

Wacha 1,1 WAR (64 IP)

Trade f'in Sanchez already. He's about to get passed by a bunch of guys in the system anyways. Trade him while he still has "upside". AA kept the wrong pitching prospect, admit the mistake and move on.

Gausman 150 IP> Dickey, Buehrle, Morrow, Happ, Rogers, Hutchison

I love Gausman but I'd be surprised if he out-WARs Dickey in 150 IP.

That's the debate
