G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Lol the backup plan is working Well, he DID promise that he'd keep the Bisons competitive
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Chris Lubanski 2,0 http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa327086&position=3B Heh, I LOVE the steamer prediction for his rate stats, given it only expects one plate appearance!
flafson Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 He has a slash line of .237/.297/.374 on 1 plate appearance, amazing.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 The fact that this comes on the heel of the last decent 2B signing doesn't augur well for middle infield improvements. AA is acquiring depth behind Goins when he should be using Goins himself for depth and acquiring a major league player. AA better be confident that he's going to deliver those promised pitching upgrades because opportunities to improve the team are dwindling.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Can Jared Goedert stick?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Steamer just projects rate stats for minor leaguers, you can put in whatever PA you want since it's arbitrary. Yeah, I know. It still looks hilarious though.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Can Jared Goedert stick? Haha i lol'd.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Major league talent at 2B is difficult to find in this free agent market. Most of the talent that went off the board are either old (Ellis, Furcal, Roberts), below-average with gloves or bats (Johnson due to being a utility-man in Tampa and not a good 2B, Schumaker, Bloomquist, Punto), overpaid and overrated (Infante) or Robinson Cano. And of course there's the wild card in Alexander Guerrero. Any upgrades will require a trade, but we're better off looking for a pitcher than a 2B.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 A 45-year old Roberto Alomar looks better than this situation at 2B.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'll say it and might get ripped for it...might be the best defender in the org. Hard to believe with Goins being the best defender ever.

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I've already mentally accepted the fact that IzGoins is our 2B next year... Can we at least not stand pat and please not deal Stroman while doing so?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Well s***... I'm completely making it up. I have no idea if he can defend or not. I just saw a Ryan Goins post and thought I'd throw that in. I highly doubt he's a great defender if he's spent time in LF
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Jared Goedert is here
KSaw Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Should have picked this guy up instead. He flies around the bases. http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/rudolph.html

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Should go after Mike Fontenot as some more ST competiton. Wasn't he on Alex's radar a couple years back?
KSaw Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I like the similar batters part. Ozzie Guillen's inclusion made me cough laugh up my beverage.

KSaw Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This thread is Derp!! I tried to at least make it funny. Maybe AA can do that by also signing Scott Sizemore.

WTF were you all watching the last six weeks of the season?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I don't get people here questioning Goins' defense. WTF were you all watching the last six weeks of the season? I don't think anyone is questioning Goins defense. I was reporting on his D and how good it was back in May. The two things people are questioning is when people talk about him having historical defensive range and whether his defense will be good enough to make up for an inept bat. Over a full season Goins would be a positive defender for certain.
