Going into the offseason they needed 1 solid starter, 2 solid outfielders.. instead they got a great 2B in a position they were already solid in, and 2 more 1B/Dh when they already had 3

Well now they have a good 2B to trade and two 1B/DH's. They could flip those for at least two decent OF'ers and there are plenty of good pitchers available. They are this off season's Blue Jays, haha.

Why exactly should we trade pieces for a guy that is nearly similar (but inferior) to Lind?

I don't know how his numbers would look like in the RC (please provide an overlay if you can) but the cost to acquire him for such a minute upgrade is not smart.

Well if we aren't competing then its better to take a chance on an unknown commodity with big upside

 

'Take a chance' is a good way to gloss over the fact that we would have to be sending players of quality to Seattle to replace Adam Lind with another Adam Lind.
