Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 You're a rare sort Chappy.. The ability to rationally utilize an addictive substance is hard to come by. I work 50 hour weeks, yet still manage to drink 5/7, smoke pot 7/7 and will abuse any drug I can easily acquire or am offered. I'm 26, hold down a management position in my field and am, generally, well regarded by my peers. I wish I had the ability to limit my consumption, however, without an altered state of mind I'm far too bored. Addiction can happen quickly, slowly, intentionally or without a thought. It truly is the demon in the freezer. I'm 32 and like I said when I do consume it's way too much, like tonight, lol. That being sad when I was 26 I was probably drinking 3-4 times a week. I never got into pot too heavily, but did indulge in it for a few years but stopped the past few years. I worked in management as well, drinking never impacted that, but It easily can if your not careful. I've seen plenty of colleagues go down a terrible path because they never understood boundaries. It's a tough call for a lot of people but at the end of the day only you know when and where you can/should indulge.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Every tried cutting out ALL sugar and carbs (the same thing, to your body)? I have, and holy f***ing s*** is it ever hard. Look up ketosis. I did, last August, to prepare for my pre-firefighter training, and yes it was incredibly hard at first, but after about a week it became surprisingly easy, and carb-heavy or sugar-heavy food items started to actually disgust me. I lost 23 pounds in that month alone (213 to 190).
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Alcohol isn't a "drug", it's just a drug. As is sugar. As is caffeine. People don't like hearing this, but so what? Everyone is an addict in this society, we all just have different drugs of choice. Food is the biggie, we're all hardwired to seek out fats, salt and sugar. Every tried cutting out ALL sugar and carbs (the same thing, to your body)? I have, and holy f***ing s*** is it ever hard. Look up ketosis. You are correct, however, some addictions are much more costly than others.

Me too, candy and whatnot actually began to disgust me, but the moment you slip up once or twice, you're back to square one. For me it was a buddy moving in to a spare bedroom for 2 months when he sold his house; he filled my cupboards with processed snackfoods, left packs of cookies and s*** lying around......ugh. motherf***er, glad I cut him off a few months back, people like him I don't need in my life. Lol
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Crack cocaine and powder cocaine are equally addictive. You're not really getting that they're the same thing, are you? Unfortunately, it's a simple chemical truth. You may have read that somewhere, but my observations of people in the real world refute this assertation with extreme prejudice. You wouldn't know anyway, you have no credibility to speak on this subject as you lack experience. I interact with crackheads every day as I live and work downtown, there is no comparison between them and cocaine addicts, never mind recreational cocaine users such as myself and my friends and acquaintances. You should meet my lawyer friends, they would piss themselves laughing as you called them crackheads whilst they snorted powder on the weekend. The world isn't nearly as black-and-white as you desperately seem to want it to be.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Eh, rationalizing "everyone is doing it" is an embarrassingly horrid line of logic. "Everyone is doing it" in terms of sugar/caffeine and to a lesser degree alcohol. Stop trying so hard to twist my words and derail what was a satisfying conversation. You're neither wanted nor needed here, go back to arguing projections in that other thread.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Uh oh, Rev. Moogy seems upset. Nothing an imaginary orgy can't fix. Rofl
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I love how you fail to see the blinding hypocrisy of labelling me as being someone who constructs false narratives of others in order to belittle them, whilst you construct a false narrative of me in order to try and belittle me. I sincirely hope you aren't a lawyer, because you'd be terrible at it. Crafting cogent arguments clearly isn't a strong suit of yours.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I think you're overlooking the fact that you started s*** with me, not the other way around. You didn't like the feelings I obviously provoked within you when I mentioned the length of my dick in response to another poster, and switched into attack-mode as a way of assuaging your feelings of inferiority. Ok, so you have a small dick, big whoop; it's not your fault, and it's something beyond your control, and I GET that it must suck to have something like that that causes you so much pain yet is impossible to remedy. This is why I don't make fun of people IRL who aren't well-endowed, or who are short, because mocking someone for something about themselves that is beyond their control is a s***** thing to do. However, I have no issue with throwing it out there in response to some overly-sensitive *******s on the innernette who go out of their way to start s*** with me. =)
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Lets get ready to rumble! Lol The only other place on the wurld wide innernettes that is nearly as amusing as this place is to me is the comment threads on zerohedge.com
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 And we're sure that you're probably the smartest, coolest dude on that website too, proffering that you have a bigger penis than someone who has a bigger penis than you (and comparatively knows how to use it), and suggesting that having experience with, and insight into, addiction results from working in a city, and this knowledge bests settled science. Then you cap it off with responding to being bitch-slapped with logic as the result of emotion. #crackheadlogic You seem to be upset at me for some reason, and unable to control your impulse to lash out at me and hurl childish insults. I wonder why? I know why. ;-)
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Because you are, and act like, a crackhead? That's not it.........there's a reason why your ego is so threatened by me. Hmmmmm, I wonder what it could BE? Oh, and for someone who claimed to be intelligent before I exposed you here for the childish dimwit that you are, you should really know that when arguing a point with someone, he who gets angry first, loses. You lost this one long ago my friend.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Ohhhh, I see that my jabs about you being nowhere near as special as you tried to present yourself as really hit home, eh? Awwwwwwww, poor Mooglie. He's hurt, and now he needs to lash out. Diddums. =)
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Another tip kiddo, when you post three replies to every one that your target posts, it comes across as if you're desperately flailing away at your keyboard in a fit of tooth-gnashing anger, desperately attempting to bait them into becoming so much as a tenth as butthurt as you currently are. You're absolutely clueless.
