Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 We'd be looking pretty solid 1-5 if we could get Anderson and Samardzija without moving Stroman or Sanchez. That I could fap to. Sanchez almost certainly gets moved for Samardzja.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 There's no way we get Samalphabet without moving one of the two. I'd honestly consider moving one of the for him however, just to listen to Buck say his name every 5 nights. Based on what the Tigers got for Fister, and what Jason Parks thinks, I do think it's possible. Nolin/Gose/Norris is probably a feasible offer for Shark.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Don't worry, AA will follow this up with a trade for Samardja or Bailey. It wouldn't be a winter without trading Sanchez. Nah it'll be Anderson and then a trade involving Sanchez for either Kendrick or Phillips. Still roll into the season with a woefully thin rotation.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 I have a feeling the trade rosenthal is referring to does involve Anderson and I wouldn't be shocked to see the blue jays get him. We have been rumored to have interest in Anderson for a while now and I could see AA buying low on him because I don't think the A's will ask for much back. Anderson would be a good #4/5 IMO, in a perfect world we acquire and sign a FA like garza to be a #2. Dickey Garza Buerhle Morrow Anderson NO. Brett Anderson healthy is better than all us SP.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Why all this talk about garza Something I dont know Garza is a good pitcher and a FA without a draft pick attached. What else is there to know?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'd have to pass on that. Not a fan of using $10M AAV on a 2nd division regular. Ellis could work as well if were getting another arm for the rotation (ie. Shark or Bailey).

Nolin/Gose/Norris is probably a feasible offer for Shark. I think we have to consider the Tigers trade a value exchange anomaly, not unlike a few trades some of us might be familiar with from last winter. What did Parks say? And are you saying just one of those lands Scrabble2.0? or the three of them?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 As long as they extend Colby. Agreed.
admin Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Anderson + Tanaka + keep all our top prospects and we're back in business.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Garza is a good pitcher and a FA without a draft pick attached. What else is there to know? The momentum really took off I think because he is familiar with Navarro and was quoted somewhere saying he loved working with him. That and he's been a rumoured AA target for like 2 years now.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Agreed. I have a feeling Colby will extend. He seems to love it here and I honestly don't think he cares about chasing the money as much as the average MLBer. For christ's sake there is that article where he is quoted as saying all he does in the offseason is hunting, fishing and mudriding.

What did Parks say? And are you saying just one of those lands Scrabble2.0? or the three of them? I'm saying all three. Parks said trading Sanchez or Stroman for Shark would be reckless, and that we'd be better off targeting Price if we're moving them.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'd have to pass on that. Not a fan of using $10M AAV on a 2nd division regular. I'm sure we could pry Ackley away from the M's if they end up signing a big bat outfielder or two this winter.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Shark > Price. In a vacuum? Or based on what they would cost.
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 This is exactly the kind of pitcher we need. High GB%, making a non-egregious amount of money, with high upside, fairly limited risk (depending on how much lube Beane decides to use on AA).

For christ's sake there is that article where he is quoted as saying all he does in the offseason is hunting, fishing and mudriding. I think so too, but you never know I guess. Extending Colby on a team friendly deal seems like a no brainer if he wants to stay here.

That and he's been a rumoured AA target for like 2 years now. Garza at about 4/$50 makes perfect sense. He has a proven track record in the AL East. The dude has never had an ERA over 4 FFS (I know we hate ERA but that is meaningful given the sample size).
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'm sure we could pry Ackley away from the M's if they end up signing a big bat outfielder or two this winter. I was just talking to a friend about Ackley.. Now that the mariners have him in the outfield would he come cheaper? I'm expecting them to sign two big outfield bats
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Shark > Price. Dafuq? I assume you mean based on cost, because Price is a vastly superior talent.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I was just talking to a friend about Ackley.. Now that the mariners have him in the outfield would he come cheaper? I'm expecting them to sign two big outfield bats He's an OF now because he's not a 2B.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Would Garza sign here though? That's the 50M over 4 years dollar question.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 He's an OF now because he's not a 2B. I thought that was because they wanted to play Franklin. Isn't ackey an okay 2nd baseman?
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 of targets known to be available, bailey > price > shark > lynn > de la rosa i swear to god if you don't cut it out with thinking anyone on your ddl team is a cy young or mvp calibre player i may just have to whoop your ass even harder next year.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 That was in all caps but the forum made me use my inside voice. Imagine all caps for maximum effect ^
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I was just talking to a friend about Ackley.. Now that the mariners have him in the outfield would he come cheaper? I'm expecting them to sign two big outfield bats Probably not, but he could be the odd man out if the M's sign a big bat or two which it seems a given that the will. I'd imagine they'd take Gose + something, and move Saunders to left.

admin Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Hopefully ANderson or Garza end up here and we don't lose any of our top prospects.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Of targets known to be available, Bailey > Price > Shark > Lynn > De La Rosa DDL bias FTL
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Would Garza sign here though? That's the 50M over 4 years dollar question. Some have suggested he would. And he is known to think highly of Navarro.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I wish AA would make one good trade so anytime a name gets mentioned, you're not thinking the Jays are about to get butt raped.
