The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 19th place, here I come! Is there a team other then Boxy's that even has a chance of finishing 20th?

GNick Verified Member Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Do we have to give up a pick if we sign Arroyo?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 No, he wasn't QO'd No compensation pick for Nolasco either Do it AA
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Do we have to give up a pick if we sign Arroyo? Arroyo would be eaten alive at the Rogers Centre and in the AL East.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Ricky Nolasco active the start button!!!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Nolasco signs with the Twins. Article posted on BB.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Can five sentences really constitute an 'article'? Close enough. Give the blog hits, will ya, ya fart snortin knob jockey?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Holy s***! That was incredible! Great work GD! I only got called out by like 6 people! New record! Woot!
Howard Roark Verified Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 So relieved (Ace Relieved, in fact) that we didn't spew some of our budgetary load on this so very mediocre, mediocre pitcher.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I would have too, but ideally he's the 2nd best addition to the rotation this offseason. I'd pencil him in for Buehrle-esque numbers: about 200 IP and a 4-4.25 ERA. Joe Blanton is available via trade. Damn boring offseason.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I just don't get it from the Twins perspective. They're so far away from contending.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 First time since moving to Minnesota that they have gone three seasons in a row winning less than 70 games. A little pride for them and showing improvement with a big time farm coming in might create a little buzz.

Lots of talk out of Minnesota about them signing Garza long term. Garza apparently liked the organization and the city when he was there previously. Garza + Nolasco would make them much better and perhaps better enough to not be so far away from contending. One might even call this signing a message to Garza, stating that they are serious about winning.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 The free agent market price has just skyrocketed . Mediocre pitchers get 4 years at better than 12 mil . Peralta gets 4 years at 13 mil when I thought 2 10 was overpay . Maybe even Buehrle ,s contract is starting to get close to moveable

Just wait until Garza, Santana and Jimenez sign their contracts.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Doesnt mean you dont sign other free agent starters What? I'm talking about Buehrle's contract, not other FA's.

Minny is going to be a beast very soon. Even without Buxton and Sano, Arcia, Rosario, Stewart and Keplar form a very strong core
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Rosario suspended 50 games. That's pretty irrelevant
