Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Since this is such a hot topic with everyone expecting AA to further gut the farm, where do we rank if one of Stroman/Sanchez and Nolin are traded? Seems like those are obvious players names that will come up in trade discussions as well as a few others. Do we fall to bottom 5?

If he doesn't trade Sanchez or Stroman, maybe 15-18.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 12-15 if Sanchez and Stroman and Nolin are traded? ouchhhhhhhhh 17-20
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Our farm system sucks right now Ask this question again November 2014 when Norris, Robson, Dawson, DeJong, Labourt, Tirado, Dragmire, Hollon, Castro, Cardona, Lugo, Barreto, Nay, Dean, Davis among others establish themselves Dj Davis, Alford, Jake Anderson, Tellez, Brentz, Urena, Tyler Gonzales
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Smoral, D Barreto, P Murphy + 2014 draft picks Smoral was overrated (No heat). He could be the next Mark Hendrickson. lol
theblujay Verified Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Does this include the prospects we get for Bautista?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I'm going to have to take the wait and see approach on this one What's Smorals velo? Chris King "Smoral first outing was really bad. No life on FB and was sitting 89-91. Didn't throw the slider but maybe twice" "Last 3 outings his velo is back up around 91-93 touched 94. Slider was sharp and he was locating it well. Swing & misses"
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Our farm system sucks right now Ask this question again November 2014 when Norris, Robson, Dawson, DeJong, Labourt, Tirado, Dragmire, Hollon, Castro, Cardona, Lugo, Barreto, Nay, Dean, Davis among others establish themselves There's a lot of potential there, but no real blue chippers and nobody on that list that will play above Low A with the exception of Norris. There's a lot of depth in the low minors, but that's not really translatable to a high ranking system without top end talent
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Osuna deserves to be in that list
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 TJ surgery puts him on pace to be in Dunedin in 2015
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Barring no setbacks How many months is 2015 after his surgery? He should have ample time.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I think he had surgery in July 2013. What's the estimate recovery time for Tommy john? 15-18 months? Think it's closer to a year now.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 12-18 months would have him ready in plenty of time.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 12-15 then? He'll probably be back next year for the final month, then some extra action in the fall.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Yup. But I think it also depends on how many innings he throws in 2014. Do you think they'll start Osuna in Dunedin in 2015? He could be rusty and that would be a big promotion for a guy trying to get back into it after Tommy john. He's only had 10 starts in Lansing thus far. I figure like Abom said he'll get in a month of starts in Lansing and maybe AFL or something.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 November 2014, I said. Most of these guys will have finished there first season in A ball and headed to Dunedin for 2015. Assuming they all deserve it. Remember that OF of Marisnick, Crouse and Knecht that was looking good a few years ago, now two of which are repeating levels and are pretty much in bust category with the other still lacking a legit hit tool for the Marlins. Full season ball has a way of weeding guys out pretty quick.

Trade both Sanchez and Stroman and we are heading for the cellar . Just have to start developing some of this talent in tyhe lower minors , something we just don't do well IMO
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Just have to start developing some of this talent in the lower minors , something we just don't do well IMO cant get value right in trades, cant draft or teach... makes for a last place team, oh wait... we were.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 If the team has been as bad at drafting/developing over AA's tenure, then why are we so upset at the gutting of the farm system last year? And don't get me wrong, I've lost my trust in AA, but if they were so bad at drafting and developing, they wouldn't have had such a highly ranked system. I would've been perfectly content with keeping the prospects they traded away and wait for the horrible farm system to start graduating guys. Guys like d'Arnaud, Syndergaard, Nicolino, to name a few, were doing just fine while in the Blue Jays system, it's not like they were struggling and finally put it all together once they joined the Marlins and Mets orgs. How about Lawrie? Lawrie didn't struggle in the Jays system, in fact, his defense was supposed to be his weakness and he developed that just fine. I'm not saying the Jays are the Rays or Cards, but I think there's some exaggerating going on.
