connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I don't know. I think if you're LA you have to take those 4 guys all things considered

bluejayscrew13 Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Do you guys think the Cubs would trade Castro plus shark in a deal with jays. maybe.. Sanchez Gose Nolan Goins. Jays get Sahrk and Castro
GNick Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Cubs say No. It's Nolin by the way. Sanchez is top 50 pitching prospect, Goins is an org guy, Gose is a 4th outfielder and Nolin is a backend starter or LOOGY. I see no reason why they would take this trade. I would look for some kind of 3 team trade with Jays dealing Rasmus and a reliever for Shark, Phillips and Hanigan
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I would look for some kind of 3 team trade with Jays dealing Rasmus and a reliever for Shark, Phillips and Hanigan Rasmus and a reliever aren't going to get us those 3. We'd need to be sending a lot more.

I am 90% sure he meant Sean Nolin, but isn't there also a Kevin Nolan? Haven't heard anything about him lately. If Ryan Goins is worth something I suppose Kevin Nolan could be too. Short stop, old, hit at a+, but not so much at aa, no idea about his defense. Maybe he's been DFA'd at this point. He is old for a prospect.
GNick Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Rasmus and a reliever aren't going to get us those 3. We'd need to be sending a lot more. One of better centerfielders and closers in the game should get ya a mid-rotation starter, backup catcher and Phillips who Reds are trying to move?
Randy The Robot Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Rasmus and a reliever aren't going to get us those 3. We'd need to be sending a lot more. I don't see why it wouldn't. A backup catcher, a mediocre and overpayed second baseman, and two years of a good pitcher. 1 year of Rasmus and a Cecil should be plenty.
GNick Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Could R.A.Dickey's struggles be partly due to Tim Wakefield pitching in the AL.East for so long? What?
Randy The Robot Verified Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 You're not really allowed to trade lump sums of cash like that, unless it covers an included player's salary. Trout for Miller, Wacha, Taveras, Adams is fair. Not really. 4 or so years of Trout then he's far and away out of their budget vs x amount of years from all of them.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 One of better centerfielders and closers in the game should get ya a mid-rotation starter, backup catcher and Phillips who Reds are trying to move? If Rasmus still had 3 years of control left or something, then it might be different. He's a free agent after next season though, and with almost everyone looking for starting pitching it just wouldn't happen. Someone would offer far more than that. In fact, I don't even know if Rasmus would get Phillips (guess it depends on how eager they are to move the salary). Cecil is been suggested quite a bit around here as the likely price for Hanigan. That still leaves Shark, who certainly wouldn't be thrown in as a freebie.

You guys are on crack if you think the Angels would move Trout for prospects, they'd want established MLB'ers if they were to move him at all. Furthermore that deal isn't even close.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Miller, Tavares, Adams, Wong, Carpenter, Molina, Wacha, Martinez, Rosenthal, Lynn, and Kelly and Matheny and Mozeliak and their analytics department and Wainwright and Chris Carpenter's biotic arm and Stan Musial's frozen head for Mike Trout? ftfy

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 "Skip Schumaker said his decision came down to the Reds and one other unspecified playoff-caliber team." Could we have been the unspecified team?
apoc10 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 http://insidethezona.com/2013/11/diamondbacks-trade-match-toronto-blue-jays/ This is from a diamondbacks fan. There trade pieces are Tyler Skaggs, Trevor Cahill, Randall Delagado, Chris Owings. Possible trades: 1. SS/2B Chris Owings and C Michael Perez for LHP Brett Cecil and RHP John Stilson 2. RHP Trevor Cahill for LHP Brett Cecil 3. RHP Trevor Cahill, SS/2B Chris Owings, and $4M for LHP Brett Cecil, RHP Marcus Stroman, and LHP Daniel Norris. I would take #2 trade in a heartbeat and #3, I'd adjust and Arizona doesn't include any cash, and we switch out Stroman for Stilson.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Cahill strikes me as someone who would get smashed in the AL East. s***** velocity and FG has almost all of his pitches at either neutral or negative value. Pass

Pass I'd take him in a heat beat for secondary prospects or a reliever. I wouldn't give up Sanchez or Stroman though.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Agree with N49, 1 and 2 are no-brainers, 3 isnt as interesting. I would be interested to see what they want for Montero after a down year.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I like Owings but it would take a bit to get him though I figure.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Ace reliever.......Here we Go!!!
apoc10 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I think Cahill is a young pitcher(25) who has experience pitching and the AL and has remained healthy. He could deliver 200 innings for the squad. Isn't that #1/#2 starter we are looking for, but definitely could be #3 and maintain stability in the rotation without giving up much. Sell high on Cecil is something that I would totally be game with. Cahill's contract is also not too bad, and if we could grab owings who is a young 2B, than that'd be awesome.
