Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Jon Jay relegated Can we invade the Cards board?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I wonder what this means for Taveras, with Holliday and Craig cemented in the corners.
Jays Verified Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Well there goes my choice for Jays starting CF. Good job by the Cards yet again.
Nox Verified Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I wonder what this means for Taveras, with Holliday and Craig cemented in the corners. Traded for Price...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 He better be playing over Jay!! If the Cards keep Adams then Jay-Bourjos will fight for the CF spot (Holliday LF, Craig RF, Taveras AAA)
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I wonder what this means for Taveras, with Holliday and Craig cemented in the corners. Taveras need more playing time in the minors (Injury issues). With Craig and Holliday in the corners, the Cards need a good CF.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Traded for Price... Price Waino Miller Lynn Wacha Kelly Martinez Garcia That would be a little overkill.
Randy The Robot Verified Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 If the Cards keep Adams then Jay-Bourjos will fight for the CF spot (Holliday LF, Craig RF, Taveras AAA) There is no completion. Bourjos is much better than Jay. Jay probably gets traded. Phenomenal trade by the Cards.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Well this leaves Sir Trout free to run his reign of terror to any stray baseballs that may come his way in centrefield. I like this for the Cards too, Bourjous is just swell. I wonder who the Angels are getting back.
Nox Verified Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Price Waino Miller Lynn Wacha Kelly Martinez Garcia That would be a little overkill. I'm not sure you can ever have too much starting pitching depth. Plus they could easily move one of them young studs for something else shiny, new and useful.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Maybe it's just me, but Jay seems very underrated.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Wait a second, Nox advocating trading the top hitting prospect in baseball for a pitcher? Theres something very weong with this picture, I'm going to contact the authorities.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Freese and Salas for Bourjos and Grichuk.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Pretty good deal for the Angels. I like it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Classic Cardinals. Keep re-tooling on the fly. They'll win 90+ easily again next year.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Maybe it's just me, but Jay seems very underrated. Not really. He did a great job 2012 but that was the only year he was a positive fielder and he really looked out of place in CF this year. They probably would have been o.k. with Jay holding the job for Taveras but when your as deep as the Cardinals, you can afford to address whatever small question marks you have. This is a huge defensive upgrade over Jay and a more viable alternative to Taveras if needed. As Nox mentionned, it also opens up the possiblity of a Taveras trade (to the Rockies for a ss?).

Oh man, please trade OT to the Rockies. Would make me happy in the DDL
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Oh man, please trade OT to the Rockies. Would make me happy in the DDL Works for me too if it clears every day work for Rutledge.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I like this deal for the Cards. Bourjos is very underrated and I think he's the type of player that can thrive in St. Louis.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Oh man, please trade OT to the Rockies. Would make me happy in the DDL I think if the Cards were to trade OT, it would be in a package for Tulo, not a pitcher like Price. So you never know. At least the offseason is now heating up!

I meant that I think Jay is underrated as a player, not specifically as a center fielder or with the Cards. Someone will trade for him and move him into left field and get a very nice player out of the deal.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 His speed doesn't translate into steals, so Bourjos still isn't fantasy relevant in any 3OF leagues. Steamer projects .250/.310/.397 w/ 11 HR, 13 SB in 493 PA. I don't thing so. The Scioscia's static game affected him . He's free to run now
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Steamer Jay 3,6 (+100 PA) Bourjos 2,6
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Last three seasons by stolen bases: Angels - 351 (8th in MLB) Cardinals - 193 (29th in MLB) You're just making s*** up. You're ignoring the configuration of the teams in question and managers. Holliday, Beltran, Molina, Craig, Carpenter can't run
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Bourjos' Steamer projection seems kind of bunk though. He's been worth 9 wins in basically 2 seasons worth of playing time. He's still pre-prime. 2.6 wins seems pretty light.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I don't think most of them have backgrounds in math/statistics. Isn't it more or less a hobby for most them? Something to do for fun on the side and make a bit of cash. The real value of fangraphs for me is the stats that are available, not the articles. I rarely read the articles. The articles bear no relation to their stats (Most of the time) ............ It's like if aliens provide the stats.
