DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 How f***ing -- scary is it that Robinzon Diaz not only still exists, but posted a 122 wRC+ in AAA last year? He's a 30yo AAAA guy, not really surprising at all.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Accidentally clicked on my bookmark for the old board. Laughed out Lind at the crap threads and posters who started them. Check out the first 5 or so titles. I advice not going to read them cause... Well just because they're complete crap. Oh god. That board is a f***ing mess.
GNick Verified Member Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 A National League general manager has indicated to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo that Jose Bautista could be available via trade. "It’s a name we’re hearing through back channels right now, but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s available" the GM said. Howard Eskin of FOX 29 TV and 94 WIP reported last week that the Phillies were nearing a deal for Bautista, but while that report was debunked, it does appear the slugger could be available. The Blue Jays would want pitching in return.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I really think a Bautista for Cliff Lee trade is a possibility. Some reports indicate the Phillies would like better depth in their relief pitching, so I could see a trade being something like this : (Bautista + reliever ) for ( Cliff Lee + a hitter ). Philles might have to throw in some money unless the hitter is on a favourable contract. I saw one of the Phillies that was mentioned before was on a 500K contract.

Some reports indicate the Phillies would like better depth in their relief pitching, so I could see a trade being something like this : (Bautista + middle reliever ) for ( Cliff Lee + a cheap decent hitter ). Philles might have to throw in some money. I saw one of the Phillies that was mentioned before was on a 500K contract. it's not the best of ideas from the Jays. Alex should get a young top-rotation pitcher and controllable by several years; Lee isn't that guy.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 If the fat greek trades Bautista for anything but a young controllable starter or prospects it's probably an epic fail. No need to trade a guy with as much value as Bautista for just another expensive contract.

Or...Bautista + one of our bad contracts for Lee + Brown.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Or...Bautista + one of our bad contracts for Lee + Brown. Bautista + Buehrle + Nolin for Lee + Brown + Kendrick
GNick Verified Member Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Bautista + Buehrle + Nolin for Lee + Brown + Kendrick Not enough of upgrade for Jays to warrant giving up Bautista.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Not enough of upgrade for Jays to warrant giving up Bautista. Bautista 3/42M + Buehrle 2/37M for Lee 3/77.5M + Kendrick ~1/6 + Brown 4 years
GNick Verified Member Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Bautista 3/42M + Buehrle 2/37M for Lee 3/77.5M + Kendrick ~1/6 + Brown 4 years Salaries balance out but doubt Jays would do this. Get an ace but punch hole in RF, with loss of power. Jays probably be better off waiting a year until Sanchez and Stroman are ready. Plus a few bad contracts will be worked off. But doubt Anthopoulos has time to wait another year. He may be forced to trade a Bautista to contend this year.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Doesn't Lee have a no trade clause?
GNick Verified Member Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Doesn't Lee have a no trade clause? Not sure?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Doesn't Lee have a no trade clause? Partial, I think.

Jays Verified Member Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Horrible trade. Lateral move at best that wouldn't move the needle. It's a pretty creative way to up the payroll without making the team better. AA excels at this.
