Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Rasmus last 3 season 2,4 WAR (150 games) Bailey put up 2.5 and 3.7 fWAR the last 2 years. It's unclear which will be better next year, but we need the upgrade at pitching a hell of a lot more than we need Rasmus imo.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Even better! Could you even see the Reds moving Latos?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Even better! If I'm the Jays I'm selling high on Rasmus. He may never be this good again and we could address a major need. The Reds need to replace Choo's bat and Latos is controllable for 2 more years I believe. The question is what would the + have to be?

Rasmus + Hutchison?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Bautista + Delabar/Santos/Janssen/Cecil + Hutchison/Stroman/Sanchez for Latos for Latos/Bailey + Chapman + Hannigan? The English skill here. I can't handle it. Latos Dickey Chapman Buehrle Morrow? Being caught by Hanigan. Mm, that's nice to dream on.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 f*** you're fast. My erection for that rotation will not subside. I lurk on the boards late at night waiting for some sorry prey to f*** up grammatically. If/when Morrow busted we'd have Nolin and two of Sanchez/Stroman/Hutchison as depth as well along with Happ. The idea just seems a little far fetched.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I really just want to acquire Chapman. The other two would be nice, but Chapman would be miraculous. That spike in walk rate is scary. I would love Latos, even if Steamer doesn't particularly.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 No chance they are trading Chapman. I was also looking at cincy as a partner as well for a Rasmus trade. They will have to trade one of Leake/Cueto/Latos/Bailey as all 4 will need extensions in the next couple years. The one I think they move is Cueto. Would love to be all over any of them regardless.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Would love to be all over any of them regardless. +1. I'm expecting AA to at least pursue one of them. Expecting not in the sense that I think it will happen, but that he'd better. It makes so much sense too. Latos is someone he's gone after before and we nearly signed Chapman. Bailey and Cueto are both good targets as well and Leake is nice.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Would want Bailey the most. Over Latos? Latos is younger, projects better, and has been better.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 The Reds have so many interesting trade targets that could conceivably be available. - Homer Bailey is a free agent after 2014, and Mat Latos after 2015, and the Reds aren't a team that would typically spend the money required to retain them. - Aroldis Chapman continues to be misused and undervalued in the bullpen. - They seem to favour Mesoraco over Ryan Hanigan. With Choo leaving, this seems like a perfect for for a Bautista trade. They value cost-certainty and don't have a mammoth payroll, so I imagine Bautista would be of huge value to them. Bautista + Delabar/Santos/Janssen/Cecil + Hutchison/Stroman/Sanchez for Latos/Bailey + Chapman + Hannigan? New rotation: Latos Dickey Chapman Buehrle Morrow Hutchison/Stroman That don't will happen, although I admit, caused me an erection.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Also an extra year if control, which is the biggest difference between the two for me. And that as well. I know JFaS has a raging Bailey boner though, I learned this the hard way when trying to trade for him in L3.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Trade of Ian Kinsler or Elvis Andrus looking ‘inevitable’ I want profar
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I want Andrus. So bad. Surplus value Profar > Andrus
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I want Andrus. So bad. Defense and speed peak early and he's on a big contract. I like Andrus but don't see why you want him so much.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Because good shortstops are really tough to come by, and not everything is about surplus value. A 25-year old true talent 3-4 win shortstop is a player I'm pretty eager to lock in, especially on a deal that never exceeds $15 million per year. I prefer the cheaper version of Roberto Alomar. I know I'll pay a little more but worth it. Profar + Ogando + D for Bautista + C
ace3113 Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Andrus to the Cardinals for one of their young pitchers (Miller, Wacha, Martinez, Rosenthal, Lynn) would seem to make sense, Texas might have to send some money over though.

St. Louis did not pay 15 million for a SS. intelligently and small market .
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 If I were the cards I'd go for alexei hard, it's pretty sad in hindsight that the red sox let go of iggy for so little(peavy) in my opininon.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I'm not moving Jose for Major Leaguers without getting an established starter. Chapman is enticing, but unproven as a starter. I'd much rather Bailey than him. Retool: Jose for MLB established starter ++ or Profar +

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 What? The Reds are in love with Bailey, he is just hitting arb and I bet they've already started contract talks. IMO there no incentive to move him for Jose when they can just resign Choo without giving up compensation. If you're expecting to trade Jose for a top of the rotation SP ++ it's not going to be from the Reds.

Bailey has 1 year of control left and is less productive per year (projection wise) than Bautista who's under control for 3 years at a bargain price. You're very wrong here.

You're very wrong here. I agree with you here. I just don't see the Reds breaking up the top of their rotation (Cueto/Latos/Bailey) to land Jose when they could have simply re-signed Choo. If the Jays' think Chapman is a legit top of the rotation guy there is a trade to be made, if not go look look elsewhere.

"Choo-Boras seeking to exceed Werth's $126 million contract" Choo is on the open market, bring him back could cost to the Reds about ~ $ 100 millions. Bautista 3Ys/42M is a very favorable contract. Many here underestimate the Jose's value. We have a great asset in Bautista 3/42. Profar ++ or Zunino + Iwakuma
