Convo Verified Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Well now... 100 'Fire Farrell' threads and 5000 'Fire Farrell' posts later... look who wins it all, and quite seamlessly too: John E. Farrell. Don't you feel a little stupid now for trying to blame the manager for everything? I know I do. So I guess 'Farrell ball' is not that bad after all, huh? http://www.thestar.com/content/dam/thestar/sports/baseball/2013/04/05/former_blue_jays_manager_john_farrell_faces_nasty_homecoming_friday/john_farrell.jpg.size.xxlarge.letterbox.jpg
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The lesson to be learned here is that the manager really doesn't matter much at all. I think the number is +-3 from best to worst?jays would have needed 10 great managers last year... lol
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The lesson to be learned here is that the manager really doesn't matter much at all. A manager doesn't have much weight or absolute as many think. Farrell for Rogers was ok?

Exactly the point I wanted to get across... now if only this would carry down to all the posters who think firing the manager is the solution to world hunger.

Actually it is Cherrington who is laughing last . He was beat up hard on this board for his overpriced contracts signing veterans who were good in the clubhouse and those vets came thru . Ortiz says it was John Farrel who took this team from last to first
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Is that guy in Chicago getting any credit for all this?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I think Tango is involved with the Cubs in some capacity but would probably jump at a full-time offer. In any case, he worked under AA until a couple years ago and left. I'm not sure why he'd come back, even though everything else checks out, including his nationality (Canadian!). Is he Canadian? Then he hate hosssckkeyyy
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Red Sox would have likely won in 5 with a different manager.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Meh, regardless of what people think of Cherington, his moves won him a World Series. +1 Jay . Sure i think Boston got very lucky while the Cards did it thru the youth and draft . Farrel obviously worked out great for themtaking a team that refused to play for the previous manager rife with disenchantment and got them to play as a team but Cherrington added the Vets that helped that to work . I give them both Kudo,s
