G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 You knew before you even opened the thread, didn't you? Of course you did. Because this is the worst year to be a Blue Jays fan EVER.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Hint: It's not Joe Maddon
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Hint 2: He didn't retire yesterday
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Because either of those choices would have been OK with me
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Hint 3: He manages in the AL East
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I told all my Red Sox fan friends how bad Farrell was all offseason...what a nightmare.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hahahahaha I've never given a flying f*** about this award, but really did this have to happen. I find it comical, it really is a s***** time to be a jays fan!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I think it should be Francona, but that's just me. Another better choice I agree
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Hint 5: Bobby Valentine chimed in yesterday (I s*** you not) that if the front office for this team had made all these changes for him a year earlier, that he could have gotten them to the playoffs last year. Or something like that. LOL.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 f*** off. f*** off so hard. Oh my god.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 John Farrell‘s eyes are on the prize. But when he finally has an opportunity to reflect on the Red Sox’ remarkable 2013 season, he’ll have at least one individual accolade to hang his hat on. Farrell was named the Sporting News’ 2013 American League Manager of the Year, while Pirates skipper Clint Hurdle was named the National League Manager of the Year. Farrell and Hurdle were selected by a panel of 19 major league managers. Read more at: http://nesn.com/2013/10/john-farrell-named-sporting-news-2013-american-league-manager-of-the-year/
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What exactly happened over the last year? Because he was terrible here
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 What exactly happened over the last year? Because he was terrible here What happened? The Red Sox got better performances than anyone could have possibly expected from Napoli, Victorino, Uehra, Lester and Bucholtz. Farrell just sort of happened to be there.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 So, other managers vote on this? I didn't know that. Do most other managers dislike Maddon and Francona? Or do they just think Farrell is really good? If Leyland had announced his retirement from managing sooner, would he have gotten more votes? Whatever. 2014 please.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What happened? Naw dude, Farrell MADE THE TEAM BETTER. HE MOTIVATED THEM TO PLAY THE BEST THEY COULD.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What exactly happened over the last year? Absolutely nothing. And that's the cruelest part.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I emailed a link to this thread to a few friends who are Red Sox fans. Why?? Owning the misery I guess. Wallowing in it. Might as well laugh about it. f***ers.

Everytime I think about this season and compare the Jays and Sox it just makes me want to stop liking baseball

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 The manager of a professional mlb team. Sits on his ass whole game..makes grueling faces on occasion. In Farrel's case, picks names out of a hat when he goes to the pen..gets all the credit

The hat they gave Farrell last year must have had too many slips of paper that said "Cordero" in it.

Either that or he was intentionally trolling us last year. Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Either that or he was intentionally trolling us last year. Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt To give him some credit, he was the first manager to pinch hit for JP Arencibia
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 To give him some credit, he was the first manager to pinch hit for JP Arencibia I will never forget that, that was awesome.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Naw dude, Farrell MADE THE TEAM BETTER. HE MOTIVATED THEM TO PLAY THE BEST THEY COULD. By that same logic (i know its sarcastic), why should Francona get the credit for getting the Indians to "play harder".. A manager is obviously nowhere near as important as a NFL HC. Congrats to Farrell though. He may not be a 10 WAR manager but he walked into a s*** storm and he kept the team from ruining its season again. Thats what a manager can actually do.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I told all my Red Sox fan friends how bad Farrell was all offseason...what a nightmare. Cito must've been great...the man won 2 World Series rings. I mean what group of Hall of Famers, Stars and solid players could win a World Series without someone Sharpie'ing a lineup card?

The FO getting rid of Beckett and Crawford kind of helped with this too
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Everytime I think about this season and compare the Jays and Sox it just makes me want to stop liking baseball But it was okay to ridicule Sox fans when they collapsed and had their hilarious season under Valentine. My what a great baseball fan you are.
