BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 You can't put Dickey in the bad luck category. He has out performed his FIP for most of his career. Wasn't there some one who looked at the stats of knucleballers and found that they all outperformed their respective FIP's? Excuse me, I meant good luck for Dickey.

It's a dispersion between ERA and FIP. I didn't put anyone on any side.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 If you're comparing luck, why not SIERA or xFIP? Parks factor? http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=376&d=1382468457
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 The Jays play in an offensive park, over a large sample you won't get ERA to line up with FIP. Of course you would. Don't be silly. or FIP- vs. ERA-. But that's the same information that he already presented?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Yeah, I had a brainfart. It's xFIP that wouldn't line up, since setting HR/FB to league average does not account for park differences. FIP es la cosa, normalized dingers suck.. The groundballers hate the xFIP lol
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Then use xFIP- or FIP- vs. ERA-. I've fallen in love with the minus stats. Love 'em.
