fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Are you kidding me? What the actual f***. Why is Mottola getting fired? s***, even with Bautista and Rasmus out in the last ~1.5 months the offence was still good. So is Pete Walker staying? I mean the starting ERA is through the roof, and yet Motolla get fired?? This is why our franchise is going nowhere
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Promoting DeRosa into pseudo-retirement would probably be a greater net benefit to the 2014 Blue Jays than hiring any single specific free agent hitting coach out there. IDK, call me crazy but I like to think that coaches actually have some value. Especially hitting coaches paired with young hitters.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 soooo our Starting pitchers were s*** show but we get rid of our hitting coach who made progress with players
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Watch Cito come out of retirement to coach...He'll turn those wussy oppo hits from Lawrie in to homeruns for sure! Don't joke about that. Cito got fired in 97... He was literally gone for only two seasons... then he was hitting coach again by fall of 99.

NOT funny... I'm going to have nightmares about that for the next 6 months. As others have said, there has to be more to this. Glad to see Murphy gone, but Chad seemed like a perfect fit.

Jays Verified Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 You know how we look at the phillies organization? That's how the rest of the mlb looks at us
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Why the f*** would Mottola be fired? because it makes the least sense to anyone who has a clue?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 You know how we look at the phillies organization? That's how the rest of the mlb looks at us Only we aren't quite in the stage of "WHY DON'T THEY REBUILD ALREADY?" But we will be. We will be.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Only we aren't quite in the stage of "WHY DON'T THEY REBUILD ALREADY?" But we will be. We will be. most would say that AA is in denial, but that would be insinuating that he had some idea of what he was doing.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This is hard to believe . I was thinking thank god we will finally be rid of Murphy and Mottola can do his thing . This just doesn't make sense. Must have not got along with the rest of the staff

Must have not got along with the rest of the staff CM's views go against everything that JPA thinks and AA's gut tells him that JPA is a baseball god, so CM goes and JPA stays. blame the gut.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 LOL nice way to turn that post into recognition on Twitter LOL
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 pitching and defense sucked all year so obviously you blame your hitting coach. makes perfect sense when you think back to AA saying that Bonifacio was the key to the Miami deal? sphincter says what ? oh my God!! there's a drunken mad man at the wheel and he's driving us straight into the abyss.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I suspect this was Gibbon's decision rather than AA's. Maybe Chad and Gibbons simply didn't get along.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I suspect this was Gibbon's decision rather than AA's. Maybe Chad and Gibbons simply didn't get along. yeah, because it's obviously the hitting coaches fault that half the team cant hit because it cant have anything to do with the front office's inability to evaluate talent.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 You guys are still making the mistake of caring to much. Nothing this organization makes any sense..why would they all of a sudden start to use logic and reason now

Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I still don't understand why they kept putting Melky in the outfield when he could barely move.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I still don't understand why they kept putting Melky in the outfield when he could barely move. They did that the previous year with Yunel and Johnson too. The pitcher feels the slightest thing and they're out 6 weeks. A batter can barely walk and they're playing the field regularly. Doesn't make sense.
flafson Verified Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I guess we will know sooner or later if that was a bad call or not. If it was, it will probably be AA's head that will come off next year.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This is hilariously sad. I know several have said 'why Mottola and not Pete Walker' and it makes some sense given the rotation's struggles, but I would say that it's wrong for AA to fire anyone at all because it was his decision to bring back Gibbons. It was his decision to hire rookies as hitting and pitching coaches. It was his decision to let go of a well-regarded coach in Butterfield by keeping him in limbo. It was his decision to replace Murphy as the hitting coach with Mottola, but still kept him around as the 1b coach because he didn't have the balls to flat out fire him. I know it's too much to ask of the media types that cover this organization, but I just dream of someone taking AA to task for his moves beginning with the Happ trade, I won't hold my breath though.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I'll preface this by saying that I never read Jays content from the media that isn't posted here, but I really don't recall ever seeing/hearing AA be asked a tough question about a questionable move. Has anyone in the media ever grilled him? I don't read much outside of links posted here either so I don't recall anyone grilling him. I've wondered if it has something to do with his being Canadian, I know it may sound silly, but it makes me wonder. Maybe because they called him the "wunderkind", they feel they'd be admitting to being wrong about him, who knows. The guy has really gone full retard. I do suspect Beeston is very involved in a lot of the dealings, but still.

Has anyone in the media ever grilled him? Rogers owns all the media and the last time any of their pundits question the jays Wilner almost got fired for it. they dont ask question he would actually have to answer because they'd have to leave Canada to work in media if they did
