GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 After celebrating his walk off single, Stephen Vogt celebrated by raising his pine tar, caked hand. http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/dRkMmXZiyKsxfDGVM9wtLg--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9ZmlsbDtoPTc1ODtweW9mZj0wO3E9NzU7dz05NjA-/http://media.zenfs.com/en_us/News/ap_webfeeds/5c1a006dade364213f0f6a70670044e5.jpg How is it illegal for a pitcher to have any foreign substance on himself, yet its okay for his battery mate to have his hand covered in pine tar?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 good question. I'm sure there's a million explanations a guy could use to explain it, "never had the pine tar before that final AB" or "it's just dirt and sweat mixed together over the course of a game" or "catcher's putting the pine tar on the ball is the new market ineffiency"
Vdubfan Verified Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 no different than having it on your batting gloves. It's legal to have it on bat handle, it's not legal to put on your hand as a pitcher.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 I don't see a problem with it. If you can have pine tar on the bats. He doesn't wear batting gloves so it would be more noticeable on bare hands. I'm sure tons of players load there batting gloves with pine tar. So if other catchers wear batting gloves its okay for them to load up their throwing hand with pine tar? Just asking?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 no different than having it on your batting gloves. It's legal to have it on bat handle, it's not legal to put on your hand as a pitcher. Then every catcher in baseball should be loading their hands up with something since its legal IYO.
