G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Yes Wish was sooner Sounds like they wanted to give Argos 4 years to "find a new home"
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 That's something. The weather in Toronto is favorable for this type of grass?
mitchf Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 There's apparently an "out" in the contract which would have the Argos elsewhere sooner.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-rogers-centre-reach-lease-agreement-through-2017/ "no renewal is expected past that date and the Argos have the option to terminate the deal earlier if they so wish." "The length of the deal allows the Argonauts a reasonable period of time to pursue other stadium options while allowing us sufficient time to plan the logistics of various stadium improvements including the installation of a grass playing surface for baseball at Rogers Centre," I guess that's why they resigned another lease, to give the Argos time to find another home, they didn't wanna kick the Argos out in the cold with no place to go. I wonder what the other stadium improvements they are talking about..?

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 In 2017 Front page of The Star. 2017 is pretty decent all things considered. Great news for the team.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Not the grass I was hoping for. >.<
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Not the grass I was hoping for. >.< It will be legal by then...
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Damn right it will be. Legalize and tax FTW.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 In 2017 Front page of The Star. It's still great news, just a shame it hasn't happened yet. What's the likelihood of the Argos finding a place soon?
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 This is great news. The Argos have the option of opting out of the lease before then, so hopefully they find a place to play sooner than that.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 As a recreational sports player in Toronto the Argos trying to find a new home sucks as they will probably end up in one of the facilities I play in Varsity or Lamport. I'd be okay with the Argos moving out to the suburbs but sorry it will probably kill the attendance.

Howard Roark Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Man, I almost came and then I saw we still have to wait another 3 whole seasons before this happens. Ah well, at least we know it's a definite thing now, but I have to admit that the wait sucks.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Maybe the team will be ready to compete by then.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 We will all be dead by then.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Maybe J.P. Arencibia will have eclipsed 100 career walks by 2017 (on someone else's roster though).
CHRIS Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Maybe J.P. Arencibia will have eclipsed 100 career walks by 2017 (on someone else's roster though). Probably. I don't think pitchers in the Independent League have very good control.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I wonder what the other stadium improvements they are talking about..? I'd like to see a couple upper deck OF sections turned into patio type areas like the Pepsi Porch at Comerica. The seating areas/concrete would have to be demolished and reconfigured. And in doing so the Jays could hold an online seat auction for fans of the seats being removed.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I wouldn't mind them moving the outfield walls being a little bit deeper while they're at it, if there's a way to make room back there.

Lowering the walls to either 8 feet across, or have the walls uneven heights. And having the park asymmetrical would also be nice.

KSaw Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 The biggest stadium improvement that is likely to happen is a monumental task. All of the seats, on all levels, from foul pole to foul pole, face the outfield. Only in Oakland is this also the case. Seats are supposed to face home plate.
KSaw Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Not to mention that the entire 100 level should be box seats and not football stadium rows.
KSaw Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Davis can climb dem walls. Honestly I'm happy its coming. But 2017 so long. I wish they could do it much sooner. Can't they just sure Hamilton's stadium or something. Hopefully they grow some beautiful blue grass. Smokescreen. They are buying time with the Bills to try and dump the preseason game and get a second regular season game. Rolling out Game Day Grass over the real sod twice a year after baseball season should be no biggie, same with a Grey Cup or an Eastern Final.
