gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Zaun is doing some pre game smoking again. "Whenever you can obtain a #1 or #2 combined with some second base thump for one player, you do it. I'd rather win the world series than keep my allegiance to Bautista" WTF? Zaun is f***ing lost.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Holly God, Zaun is a moron
Jays Verified Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 sometimes i wonder how guys who get paid to voice their opinions about ballclubs, like zaun, would stack up against some of the better posters on this board, if they started posting here.

Some would be sensible and do ok, but the majority would get destroyed. I can't believe how stupid Zaun is when it comes to off field discussion. Throw Wilner in for good measure.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Choo and Beltran both make sense in the OF. Pick up Ruiz or McCann to fill the hole at C. Sign Garza or Kuroda for the #2 spot in the rotation.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Yup, he wouldn't come here years ago, why would he now? It's a much better team than a couple seasons ago. The Jays may offer him more money than other places. Opinions change.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 He's going to be 36 and turf don't mix, is this Gregg Zaun? Age has nothing to do with it. We also don't know exactly why Beltran chose STL. It probably had something to do with the turf but the money was probably close and STL was a much better team.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I remember hearing Toronto offered quite a bit more. He didn't want to play on turf and the Cardinals being a much better team coming off a world series put it over the top. I'm sure Yadier Molina helped as well. It's all speculation. Toronto offered quite a bit more but is that 500k or $5M? We know he preferred to play on grass. We don't know if the turf was a deal breaker.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I will try to dig it up on my computer later. Right now I'm on my phone. But I believe he stated that playing on turf was a major factor in his choice. AA doesn't talk about specific players. The quotes are generalities and Beltran hasn't spoken about it.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Zaun wanted the Jays to sign Prince Fielder too. He's just pimping his former teammates.

Rumour still is that Lozano never even told him about the Jays offer.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Zaun trying way too hard to be controversial again. Both guys are due 11M next year..... lol how can stuff like this get past the producers when they prep the show? How can they all sit there and agree that this would create a good discussion?... Unless Zaun just makes s*** up on the fly.

Unless Zaun just makes s*** up on the fly. I want the Jays to pursue Gallardo this offseason - his value has gone down and could be a solid bounce back candidate who is still young. Though parting with Bautista to get him would be absurd. Plus, Weeks hasn't been that good in a while and is too injury prone.
