Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 It was the right call but given the implications I think the ref should have kept the flag in his pocket.

You can’t win either way. I think there would have been equal, or louder noise if it didn’t get called. The consensus is pretty much it sucks that a game was decided like that, nobody wants to see that, but it had to be.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Think of those pass interference non-calls over the years. Controversy either way
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 My issue is that these calls seemed to always go in KC's favor. Sure, they'd throw an odd offensive hold in here or there, but on critical plays? Always went KC's way. Look at the IG situations. Burrow does it, IG, even though he was trying to get it out in Perine's direction and got hit. Mahomes does it a few plays later, no flags to be seen. Getting pretty tired of it. Oh yeah - I thought that IG call on Burrow was ********. Perine was in the vicinity - but did that throw make it back to the line of scrimmage? I'm not even 100% sure I know if that matters (if there's a receiver in the vicinity) - maybe that's only if you're throwing it away while outside the tackles?

If they don't, then they are doing this weird thing where the ref has to input the stakes prior to the call which probably leads to worse officiating.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Yeah, actually just in the NBA the other night there was a big non-call at the end of the game that the NBA had to apologize for. Obviously far, far less at stake but you can’t swallow the whistle. I mean I guess you can have the mindset you’ll let people be physical but if there’s a clear penalty, you have to call it, even if decides the game. Sucks when it happens but you can’t swallow the whistle
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I mean the player knew, his teammates knew.. it was just a bang bang thing and it sucks
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I actually read most teammates were consoling him but one defensive starter was pissed coming down the tunnel yelling “you can’t touch the f’n QB there” to nobody in particular
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 On the plus side of things, I think it falls well shy of Billy Buckner and Scott Norwood territory. I don’t think his name lives in infamy past a year or so

You don't have to throw it to anyone outside the tackle box as long as it goes past the LOS. Either inside the box or outside, if there is a receiver in the vicinity it doesn't matter if it makes it to the LOS or not.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 San Francisco could be in the market now for either Brady with Purdy requiring surgery after a torn UCL in his elbow. Might not be a bad idea to offer Brady a one-year contract and have Lance/Purdy rest up another year and learn under Brady.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Germaine Pratt was the guy calling him out. It was a terrible penalty to take, he's right. In the end though, that's not cool either. Ossai was devastated.

We agree on something. s***** ass teammate. It would be one thing if Ossai was like Lebron getting a foul called on him that he didn’t agree with, but he wasn’t. He knew he f***ed up, everyone in the stadium and watching tv knew he f***ed up. No reason to call him out
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Brady retires. Man - what a career. We may never see anything else like that in our lifetime. He didn't go out on top, but he also didn't hang on until he was a complete ghost of his former self. I think this is a wise choice, but a sad day for the NFL.

As a fan of Tom Brady, wish he could have played forever but we knew this day was going to come. He still played very well this season but yeah sad he couldn't go out on top. Thought he could have easily played for another 2-3 seasons but in the end he accomplished everything a starting QB would want to accomplish during their careers. Don't think we'll see a better QB in our lifetime.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Ugh. I hoped for a last swan song on a better team.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I mean, 10/375 isn’t too shabby I guess for tv
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I wonder if we see him return next year near the end of the season. Scenario where one of the top teams lose their QB, Brady is getting the itch to play again, the team comes calling and has a realistic shot at a super bowl. Does he say no?

Those rumours will be out there for sure next season. What about his TV contract? If he starts in the booth next season, would he be allowed to lets say sign late season for Week 10 etc. with a team?

I’d wager there’s probably a clause in there that allows him to “freeze” the tv deal to return to football. It would be good exposure for the network really. He’s prob done though. Sucks as a fan:(

I still think there's a decent chance he goes to the Dolphins or Raiders.

Everybody else The only reason for him to keep playing is to fill the empty void in his soul where he gave up his family for a s***** team that was easily dispatched in round 1.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Steelers have 6 as well. Sixburgh.

I vaguely remember hearing he won more playoff games than any team. I’m not sure but that would even be crazier. As for his family, the conspiracy theory would be he went back to football because home life was already coming unwound. Giselle was banging the Brazilian jiu jitzo guy in pretty short order and so possible it was before the divorce
