Through seven weeks of the 2016 season, the NFL’s TV ratings continue to suffer.

Michael Mulvihill, executive vice president of research, league operations and strategy for Fox Sports, tweeted new numbers out Tuesday that included, most notably, steep drops for primetime games.

Monday Night Football is down 24% from this time a year ago, Sunday Night Football down 19% and Thursday night down 18%

More people cutting cable? Or is it just because the product has been a lot worse?

I'm surprised the TNF games aren't down more. Every game is almost complete garbage and its been that way for a while.

Does anyone actually enjoy having a game on that day? Football fans like to gamble, they like to play fantasy, they like to play daily fantasy. Having a game on Thursday messes with all of that.

They were getting greedy for more viewership/money, the players and coach's hate the short week, especially concerning banged up guys and the increase of probable injury, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets abolished in the next CBA. It does mess with DFS, but the gambling on results, o/u, etc, are still in play, fantasy too.

Yeah I get that the game is still in play for fantasy but things like having players frozen on your bench or whatever because you didn't set your rosters three days in advance has got to be annoying for more people than just me. Also back when I bet on football on Sunday, I liked to do the full slate. I guess one less game doesn't really change it that much. These quibbles are no doubt minor compared to how much the players must hate it.

Did anyone catch the end of the Bronco/Saints game just now?

Wow!

We'll likely never see anything like that again. That was crazy.

That was a great Grey Cup game!

So I was told, my brother was at the game with his boss... I'm watching the replay now.

Yeah, that was a very good game... Wow!

Dem Packers!

Giants won't be that easy, though I still favour the Packs in that matchup at Lambo. Better than going into Seattle next week for sure.

Have to admit I completely missed the news when it happened but Sam Spence died in 2016.

I love those old NFL Films scores he composed and I think he played a huge role in the utter watch-ability of that stuff and by extension in giving the NFL some gravitas that helped give it the cultural resonance it has today.
