I am not sure how Goins can draw comparisons to Kalfus. That is just f***ing retarded

 

Kalfus is a top prospect in all of baseball, and will lead the Jays to a World Series in time. Goins, however, is a 25 year old who had a 86 wRC+ in AAA this year. Surely, everybody should be able to distinguish the two. Kalfus, is an outfielder. Goins, is a SS playing 2B at the MLB Level because SS is blocked by Jose f***ing Reyes. Kalfus has a legit hit tool, and is drawing comparisons by fans to great switch hitters such as Roberto Alomar, Pete Rose and Chipper Jones. Some scouts compare Kalfus to Mike Trout in terms of talent and how hard they both play the game. Kalfus is an amazing defensive outfielder, he has a cannon of an arm and makes great superman like diving catches that Wow the crowd every game. Kalfus was a starter in the NWL Allstar game this year, and will continue to be an allstar at every level and one day lead the Jays to a World Series victory. Goins, is a fringy 40 man player that is only being discussed because he had a few good games, and if he had played poorly people would be calling for his head. It amazes me that I actually read in this thread, "Goins > Kalfus".

 

Surely, real fans of baseball know that "Goins > Kalfus" is a completely ridiculous statement. How could somebody compare a fringy 40 man player to a generational talent?

This is pretty f***ing retarded. Goins had a 90 wRC+ in AAA as a 25 year old, he's not going to get any better with the bat. He's not a good hitter. So far, in 9 or whatever games he has played, he has apparently looked above average defensively. Okay great. He shouldn't be starting on this team next season, he's an org guy. He's getting his chance right now, and he's going to BABIP his way to a .300+ average September, and be penciled in as starter next season. He's going to fail next season and we will be stuck with another year of a blackhole at 2B. Thames situation all over again.

Well he's been pretty consistent since he started full season ball except this year in AAA. Sure the MLB is way harder, but he can continue to get better.

Lg q2B is that league's qualified 2nd basemen.

 

Goins was good a few years ago in the lower levels and has since slipped. Goins has been, on average, 11% better than the league offense, but most of that came in 2010 and 2011.
