Alex Rodriguez may have a new issue in his legal battle against the New York Yankees.

 

The New York Daily News reported Monday that Brian Cashman’s ex-mistress, Louise Meanwell, claimed that Rodriguez’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, should not be able to represent the Yankees slugger because of a conflict of interest.

 

Meanwell, who reportedly had a 10-month affair with Cashman, is being represented by Stephen Turano, who is partners with Tacopina, in a separate case in New Jersey.

 

According to court papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Monday, Cashman told Meanwell about “steroid use by various Yankee players by name” during pillow talk.

 

Cashman also allegedly told Meanwell that he “was ambivalent to the use of performance-enhancement drugs so long as nothing came back to the Yankee organization.”

 

And the ickyness keeps coming.

I definitely don't want the Yankees to benefit in any way from his suspension, but A-Rod is really a Hall-of-Fame level scumbag. It just so happens there are a lot of them in pro sports.

I've always liked A-Rod, and he's reached near demigod status for me. I loved those insufferable chowderhead douchebags who waved around PED signs when he comes to bat while wearing their 2004 WS champion t-shirts.

Agreed. Compared to the wannabe insurance fraudsters at the Yankees and the senile judge/jury/executioner Selig, A-Rod looks better and better. His "crimes" are taking supplements that one can safely assume every pro athlete takes, wanting to play and earn his paycheck, and breaking records that old, bitter sportswriters didn't want to see broken.

 

Plus, it's hilarious how A-Rod's basically become a living, breathing caricature of a sports villain. And I don't want the Yankees weaseling out of his contract. They made their bed, now they have to sleep in it.
