ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 and yet some how we couldn't even trade Oliver for cash??? If you were the other team, would you give up anything to get him?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 outside of Juan Perez being DFA'd what is the option? Loup is the only pitcher with options. Just another reason not trading today makes little sense. I imagine they will place multiple players on waivers to see who bites but that isn't going to help for Santos tomorrow.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 f***ing mcgowan jesus christ man
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Might explain Mcgowans sudden loss of velocity, goes from 95 to 91 in his last two outings.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Fake injury, the team asking McGowan to go on the DL...I mean a doctor wouldn't even investigate, he'd just see McGowan and sign the injury forms. So who comes off the 40 man?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Why not? Lefty reliever with a 3.78 xFIP in the AL East and dat vetrin experience. Yeah, I read you, but how many teams actually have a need for him? It was a very quiet trade deadline. I'm all for trading some of the relievers, but I think we're all pretty freakin' frustrated with this s***** season that we're probably overreacting.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Nice to see Santos back--more power for our bullpen. Bummer on McGowan, though.
digiblader Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Well, we're not bad enough to outright sell--but not good enough to buy either. A number of teams, including the Royals, Indians, Mariners, etc. were in the same boat--nobody wanted to blow prospects for rentals, unless they were really desperate(see Jake Peavy to Boston)
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Stroman 6.2IP, 13 K's WOW. He had 11 K's in his last start... kid is on a tear
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I don't know how legit this injury is, but I really can't wait for McGowan to be gone. He'll be 32 next year, is made of glass, has no options, and isn't even very good. I'm sick of him. I feel the same way about Luis Perez. Only way he should be back in Toronto is if he moves into ECJF's new place
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 McGowan FAKE DL, Santos up

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Stroman 6.2IP, 13 K's Dude is tearing it up. Earning himself a legit chance to start games in the big leagues.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 What are the odds he's makes the rotation next spring? Been excellent this year Miniscule. Almost non-existent. There would have to be a couple of injuries above him.

Howard Roark Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Your probably right, nice guy to have ready to step in next year tho when needed You have to think September 2014 at the very latest, no? Unless everyone's dealing and were in the hunt, which I severely doubt.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I'm honestly still excited to see what Santos can do if hes healthy. He has electric stuff. He hasn't been all that impressive in the minors, mostly hit or miss. Sometimes he's great, sometimes not.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 What are the odds he's makes the rotation next spring? Been excellent this year It seems like AA is going to leave at least one spot for Hutch, Drabek, Stroman, Nolin, Redmond, etc to compete over. If he keeps pitching like this he might even be up before then.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Miniscule. Almost non-existent. There would have to be a couple of injuries above him. I think it really depends on what AA does with the rotation. If he goes in to next season with Dickey, Buehrle, Morrow, as locks and leave the last two open for competition he might squeak in. IMO it would still take utter dominance (or injuries) for him to nudge his way in but, I think he's pushing himself to the very top of the depth chart at this point.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Heh......these phantom injuries are going to go on for the rest of the season. As for the 40 man, there's a handful of guys they can try to slide through waivers. And if someone claims them they are most likely motivated to get a deal done. Hopefully AA gets something done while McGowan is on the DL. There are too many arms and not enough spots as is, guys coming back from injury will really complicate things.
admin Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 AA should have dumped as many relievers as he could. Lincoln and Santos could have filled in for anyone that was moved.

I don't trust any of those 2 to be honest. I also don't trust Oliver, but at least you can say he has the experience.
