The Toronto Blue Jays are the front-runners, along with the Texas Rangers, to land Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza, according to ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine.

This has to be a running joke right?

So what do we figure? DJ Davis, Sanchez and throw in Barreto for good measure?

As I've posted in the other thread, I bet they're scouting Garza for Free Agency. That would make sense.. obviously they won't be trading for him.

As we've seen with this team time and time again, nothing makes sense my friend.

We are going to trade several top prospects for a player that we won't re-sign or get a comp pick for.

Garza has been raking lately - his stock is likely through the roof right now. I would love to see him in a Jays uniform but I shutter to think what AA would give up for him.

Only way AA does a deal is if it comes with an extension. Lets not kid ourselves here.

He did say no rentals.

Yup. AA knows next year will be a big year for his career. He is looking to shape this team for then not now. The plus for him is that he could sell the idea to the casuals that he is still focused on this year too.

I'd like to say that there is a 0% chance of this happening, but AA's trade history won't let me.

- Traded young assets for 1/2 a year of Brandon Lyon, when the team had virtually no chance of making the playoffs.

- In the Dickey trade, dealt a heck of a lot for 1 year of control, showing that he'll include extensions (contingent or possible) into his trade calculus.

Assuming the Cubs can't get a type A prospect for Garza, in a Wheeler-for-Beltran type of rental raping, then I could see AA sending B pieces for him and trying hard to get an extension done. Because, you know, Garza had a decent ERA for a few years in the AL East back when he was on the other side of his physical prime.

Ugh

Cubs scout is at today's Lansing game

Hmmm

That means something

Please not Stroman though... Though that actually seems likely.

Well, Stroman pitched for NH, but maybe Stroman and a Lansing guy...who knows, I really hope AA is done with these stupid trades.

Stupid of me. I knew this. Stroman is one of my favorite guys on Twitter. I was excited when he was advanced to AA New Hampshire.

Oops, right...

Well, I don't think Stroman would be enough anyway....watch it'll probably be Stroman+Sanchez+Nolin, so f*** rotation depth next year.
