Notes:

MLB:

  • Nothing important to report

Indians:

  • Justin Masterson was pitching really well up until his last start against the Tigers, which saw him yield 6 runs in 4.2 innings pitched on Friday. But the start prior to the Tigers game, he shutout the White Sox on 6 hits and was 5-0 with a 1.49 ERA in the 6 starts prior to the Tigers game. Justin Masterson pitched against the Jays in the first game of the year, tossing 6 innings of 1 run ball, helping to kickstart the (disappointing) Jays season on the wrong foot
  • Lonnie Chisenhall (like the Jays) got off to a bad start to the season, and he posted a very low 2/14 display against the Jays in opening series, and he continued to underpeform until mid-May when got a ticket to AAA to work on his batting. Fast forward to June 18th - Chisenhall gets the call to the bigs and starts for the Indians. Fastforward to the present time, and he's had 18 big league games under his belt since the promotion, sporting a much improved performance .279 with 2 homers.
  • The Indians haven't won a series season against the Jays since 2010, but can do so with a win today

Jays:

  • Colby Rasmus has been really hot, in his last 10 games he's hit .333 with two homers putting him at 16, which is tied for first (along with Adam Jones) for homers by a CF so far in the AL
  • On the mound for the Jays is the ex-Indian Esmil Rogers. The righty came from Cleveland for Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes in the offseason and has done beautifully as a starter, dispite his last start. Similar to Masterson, he allowed 7 runs at home against the Tigers, but he was 2-1 with a 2.43 ERA in the 5 starts prior.
  • The Jays are 2-6 in the last 8 games on the road

How we win this:

Game starts on time

Rogers and Masterson each pitch 2 scoreless innings

Heavy rain starts, 90 minute rain delay

Game resumes, starters are too stiff to resume

Bullpens take over and we win 3-1

We should have traded for Masterson when we (possibly) had the chance

I was pushing hard for it last year

Yan Gomes would be our 4th best player according to WAR this season if the Jays held on to him.

LOLWTF

Quick note. Im at the next two games with my son and jays are 8-0 when we've gone.. So if anyone wants to bet their farm, now is the time:)
