But it didn't! An injury prevented a Jenkins blowout, which means the 3 starts of 2 run ball each was not a waste. He won us three games with some luck, and got injured before the fat AA kept him going!

It did with Wang, didn't it?

Wang should have been DFA'd after the Boston start because of what he did in Chicago. But as I said, Jenkins had 3 starts which were of quality and that's it.

Three starts is nothing though - pretty much any pro above A+ can put together three decent ML starts. On the whole we've wasted 20% of our season starting guys with no prayer of being above replacement-level, and they've predictably combined to put up a negative fWAR.

Agreed

It's the sad, sad truth :(

I can't believe Gibby left him in long enough to give up 6 runs today

I for sure thought he would pull him for the Cabrera AB. As soon as I realized he was going to let him pitch to Cabrera I all but assumed it would be a HR and it was. I still can't believe Gibby left him in for that AB.

Marcus Stroman tonight for double-A NH in 3-1 loss to NB: 6.2IP, 6H, 3ER, 1BB, 13Ks. Gibbons: “We know what he’s doing.” #BlueJays

What are the chances Stroman gets the call next?

Ah f***, just saw the thread about Redmond as the tentative starter for Sunday.

Stroman's next scheduled start is Sunday.

It's time.

It makes too much sense.

Haven't we rushed enough young players already? Give Stroman time in AAA before promoting to the big leagues. This year is obviously going nowhere anyway.

Gibbons is in a rut. He had a bad series in Boston with his bullpen management and if he's not doing what he does best, which is manage a bullpen, he's no better than Farrell.

The thing about tonight though is that he had Perez warming up...anyway...

That's the problem, it makes too much sense, we can't do it!

The Nolin fiasco probably scared them. Stroman's had like 9 starts all year. I wouldn't complain if they called him up, but I can live with not calling up guys from AA. I'd rather they promote him to Buffalo soon. We'll see what happens.

This is all that injury prone'd Brandon Morrow's fault. He can't stay healthy if his life depended on it. He's a cheap AJ Burnett.

I still can't believe we gave 5 starts to this shitbag. That doesn't even seem real.

And just who the hell should we have used . The cuboard was dry . He gave us 2 quality starts out of 5 . I,m sure we could have let Nolin get his brains beat out or Jenkins and then lost all 5 of those games instead of getting some wins .

Yes it pisses me off that Morrow is ALWAYS on the DL Guy can step on a toothpick and twist an ankle , and yes it pisses me off that Romero self destructed and then the Jays mishandled it and really screwed him up . I supose people think we should have brought up Sanchez ?? Why not blow an option on him too .

Just who would you have pitched Stache

Teams with nothing in the pipeline shouldn't be all-in in the first place. We came into the season relying heavily on a 38-year old and two very talented but very injury-prone arms to anchor the top three spots in the rotation and nothing in the upper minors to serve as a contingency plan if things went wrong.

It's not like I'm talking purely in hindsight here. I've been bitching since January about taking a run at the playoffs with nothing of any value waiting as reinforcements in the upper minors.

And i posted that I didn,t like the gut job of the minors but would Eat the cake since I couldn't have what i wanted. Still we are the most injured team in baseball and no one plans for that .

The one thing is two or even five wrongs don't make a right . The Nolin fiasco should have us realizing blowing option years on these kids is stupid . Doing it to Stroman now to me is just another wrong . blowing prospects in a trade is another wrong and how many wrongs do we think will make it right .

Wang gave us some innings and time for Happ or Morrow or Romero to come back . They aren't coming but we got some good innings out of him .

Time to start developing for next year ,

Wang gave us some good starts, i can't believe you guys are so happy he's gone. Obviously after 2 horrible starts, DFA him was the right call but no need to be jerks about it.

Morrow and Josh Johnson are the 2 biggest disappointments imo. Dickey has come around. If Morrow and JJ just pitched like they have in the past and been healthy we would be in a lot better place now. Those 2 are the biggest reason we are where we are imo.

I'm not quite ready to believe that he's back to form, his trick pitch still makes me nervous, and that's all he has.

Sometimes you say things to make sense.

and

Official wasted starts counter:

Wang = 5

Ortiz = 4

Jenkins = 3

Romero = 2

Nolin =1

Laffey = 1

16 in 83 games, for 19% of the schedule. Not bad.

It actually was a meme I found on Google... I just typed in "Wang meme" and it was one of the first ones to show up

You need to improve, you must work harder.

Well, the creator of said meme is bad, and (s)he should feel bad.

The "Aliens guy" meme should be one word only!

And frankly, that picture with the word "Wang" under it, when he's got his hands held out like that could have been pretty funny.

Gibby hopes Wang stays in the organization.

MLB.com:

The final blow came when Wang recorded just five outs while surrendering six runs on eight hits in the Blue Jays' 7-6 loss to the Tigers in front of 27,189 fans.

"He competes, he's a real pro, and we like having him around," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "We hope he chooses to stay and pitch for us down there in Triple-A, with a shot to come back. He can choose to be a free agent if he wishes, but I'd love to have him around -- he's a true pro."
