Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 The reason i say Whiteside isn't a true anchor is because a true all around defensive player does more than act as a lane intimidator. In today's NBA pick and roll defence is as important as protecting the rim on drives, he's also slow on rotations and doesn't have the overall instincts on defence that someone like Marc Gasol does. Having said all that, he's truly elite at blocking shots and altering shots, that's a valuable and rare skill. JV right now has become a much better defender on the pick and roll, its really noticeable in the post season compared to previous years. His 1 v 1 defence against other bigs is okay but his shotblocking presence and other aspects of help defence need to get better. The thing with Whiteside is, he's still improving. Young enough (26) to still see an upward projection but that depends on where he goes. I think he has a chance to be a top 3 center if he continues to improve his FT percentage and is given a higher USG% while maintaining his efficiency. All within reasonable grasp, his per was 25.7 this year.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Vegas has the Heat -5 for tonight's game which was the same line as game 3. So the betting public thinks the two injuries more or less offset each other.
Frag Verified Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I hope Bebe gets a bench spot tonight. Maintains some C depth, even though the loss of JV sucks. Somewhat OT, but I found it funny that Bebe's worst case comparison was Hassan Whiteside by Draft Express (FWIW).
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Holy crap, Biz actually made 2 free throws. Of course he missed a freebie underneath and got bailed out right before that.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 bebe over Scola. Casey actually did something right
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Miami is really good defensively. Even when the Raps want to get something at the rim they're having to settle for jumpers.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Nogueira looks awful out there. The Heat are having their way in the paint. I'm not saying Scola is the solution by the way, I'd much rather see Jason Thompson out there.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 we are truly awful without JV out there. Lowry better get his s*** together and go into beastmode again
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Is this defense by Miami or just the Raps offense moving at 25% speed. This is painful to watch
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Cant make layups, free throws, doesnt defend, cant shoot, doesnt rebound. 40 minute a game player
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Derozan has been awful this entire playoffs.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 He's literally been awful all 11 games
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 a starting sg that can shoot the 3 or play defense next year will do wonders for this team
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I went down to "Jurassic Park" last week and saw no bathrooms, real question.... where do you take a piss there?
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 2/10 lol. He just pounds the ball into the ground for the whole shot clock before bricking it
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 jesus christ glue demar to the bench plz
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 He got the ball with 14 seconds left on the clock, wasted the whole clock, pushed off and still missed a 2 foot wide open shot
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 2/12 lol. Jesus christ someone break his ankle
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Did we not have any time outs remaining? It would have been nice to run something at the end there, even if it resulted in another DeMar miss.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 So the starters were 7-30 in the half...
