I'd say Masai is an above average one. Yes the T Ross extension was awful but he's also made great moves like the Lowry extension and Bargs trade. He's well respected around the league and most NBA people will tell you he is a top 10 GM. I just can't see Toronto being better off with some other random GM. I also have zero confidence in MLSE/Air Canada President hiring the right guy.

I wouldn't call the Lowry extension "great." Just the right move to make that most GMs probably would've made.

 

If Masai had his way initially, Lowry would have been traded to the Knicks for Shump and a 1st round pick.

Actually the deal was Ray Felton, Ron Artest, and Shumpert or a 2018 1st round pick. Masai was going to tank but then they caught lightning in a bottle as we all know.

I think Masai has something to do with the culture of the org. and why the players liked being in Toronto. Like Lowry said before Masai came he hated everything about the org. Now if the Raps were winning when BC was here who knows if it all would of been the same but I think Masai brings something that most GMs don't have.

 

I still can't believe Lowry makes so little though. 11 Million for an elite player like him is such a steal.

If Bob Voulgaris says Masai is one of the top GMs I'll value his opinion pretty high. The guy is knows the NBA inside and out and makes 5 Million/year on it.
